How can I watch my favourite
programmes online?
1. The Internet can help you watch recent
programmes again, catch up on one you

• Go to the BBC iPlayer web link. This is a
good starting point because you can also
watch programmes from lots of other
channels.

3. Below each programme video, you can also
choose to download it to your computer and
watch it another time, perhaps when you are
not online:
• Click on ‘Download options’: you can
download just the episode you’re watching,
or select ‘Series Record’ to download future
episodes automatically (you’ll need to be
online to do this).
• To do this you will need to install the iPlayer
desktop. This will happen automatically the

You can store downloaded programmes on
your desktop for up to 14 days, after which
they expire.
How can I watch classic series I enjoy?

classic TV series from the past. These combine
a free and paid-for service, which can include
a monthly subscription or pay-as-you-go rentals:
• Go to the SeeSaw web link.
• Click on ‘View by’ and then ‘Categories’
in the top menu and browse to see the
programmes you can watch - some of
them are free. These free programmes
are supported by advertising, a bit like on
commercial TV channels.
• You can also ‘Browse all’ if you know the
name of the series you are looking for.

How can my family play games online?

• Go to the CBBC, CBeebies or CITV web link.
Each of these has a ‘Games’ or ‘Play’ web
link.
• Click on this and search for you child’s
favourite programme by name or theme, to

to play using your mouse or the keyboard
(games usually start with an instructions
screen).
6. Most famous character toys have a website
that includes games:
• Type ‘Ben 10’ into a search engine such as
Google, and go to the Ben 10 web page (or
try another favourite character).
• Click on ‘Games’ to explore some of the
games you can play online.

• Go to the Orisinal, Record Tripping and
Samorost web links to try out some unusual

• TV programmes need a large amount of data
to stream or download. You will need a fast
broadband connection to get the most from
Internet TV. Make sure you don’t exceed any
monthly data limit on your broadband package
– you may incur extra fees.
• Find out how to install iPlayer on your
Internet-enabled phone or other mobile
device.
• Search for on-demand TV from ITV, Channel 4
and Sky.
• Search for ‘online TV’ and ‘free online games’

that’s not suitable for children. Find, choose
