1625 Independent People JOB DESCRIPTION POST: Resident Adult, Housing RESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Support Worker AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: To be a positive example of independent living to young people who reside in the property. To assist in ensuring smooth running of the shared house. This objective should be achieved in line with the organisation’s ethos of involving young people at every level of the organisation and helping them reboot their lives. TASKS AND DUTIES 1. HOUSING AND SUPPORT 1.1 To be a role model/mentor to the young people who live at the house. 1.2 To support young people in basic life skills e.g. using a washing machine, ensuring doors are locked etc and to ensure that young people clean and maintain their home. 1.3 To collect service charges as agreed with the Future Builders Project Co-ordinator. The Project Co-ordinator will liaise with the Resident Adult regarding young people whose charges need to be collected so they can be advised of the importance of paying. 1.4 To complete weekly safety checks of the property and to report maintenance, health and safety and fire issues direct to the Project Co-ordinator within 24 hours. In the case of an emergency, this should be reported immediately. 1.5 To support residents to follow house rules and report issues to the Project Co-ordinator and to advise the Project Co-ordinator of any inappropriate behaviour e.g. nuisance, noise etc. within 24 hours or to contact the Out Of Hours system if assistance is required immediately. 1.6 To work alongside the Project Co-ordinator to assist when possible with void rooms. 1.7 To attend monthly meetings with the Project Co-ordinator 1 Resident Adult, Housing. January 2017. 1.8 To attend house meetings with the young people and the Project Co-ordinator. 1.9 To advise Independent People when they intend to be away from the property for more than 24 hours. 1.10 To try, when possible, to be available for young people if they cannot wait until working hours to speak/meet with the Project Co-ordinator but feel they would like to speak to someone concerning any issues they may have. To then pass relevant information on to Project Co-ordinator by 9:30am the next working day. 2. OTHER ORGANISATIONAL AND GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 2.1 To adopt, in all aspects of the role, the organisation’s psychologically informed framework. 2.2 To safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults, working within 1625 Independent People’s safeguarding policies, South West Child Protection Procedures and local procedures for safeguarding vulnerable adults. 2.3 To carry out day-to-day administration functions to ensure that all records and files are maintained and stored securely in line with the Data Protection legislation. 2.4 To follow all financial procedures in operation at the organisation, to ensure the safe handling of monies, as required. 2.5 To act as a representative of Independent People at internal and external meetings, as required. 2.6 To report to the Housing team on all matters relating to the service. 2.7 To contribute to the collection of statistical information relating to all aspects of the service, as required. 2.8 To provide a diverse and culturally sensitive service, ensuring that anti-discriminatory practice and equality of opportunity are promoted within all aspects of Independent People’s services. 2.9 To provide support and guidance to trainees, relief/agency workers and volunteers, when required. 2.10 To assist managers with the recruitment and induction of new staff into the service, as required. 2.11 To attend staff supervision and annual Performance Development Reviews. 2.12 To attend external events, meetings, training and development activities when required even if these are outside of your working hours and away from the organisation’s premises. 2 Resident Adult, Housing. January 2017. 2.13 To understand and contribute to the overall objectives of the organisation. 2.14 To assist in the development of the organisational policy and follow all existing organisational policies and procedures that are provided in the Resident Adult Handbook. 2.15 To promote a safe working environment in line with policies on Health and Safety, highlighting any significant deficiencies to a senior colleague. 2.16 To promote the organisation through building professional links with outside bodies as appropriate. 2.17 To carry out other duties that are consistent with the above as may be required from time to time.
