The Drumheller Dragons Jr A Hockey Club invite applicants for the position of Assistant Hockey Coach. As a member of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), the Drumheller Dragons have established a community driven, nonprofit hockey club focused on the development of athletes both on and off the ice; instilling in them the life skills of teamwork, commitment and discipline to help further their educational and athletic goals. Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to the following: Under the direct supervision of the Dragon’s Head Coach and Vice President, this position will assist with the operations of the program. Potential duties include: - Assisting the head coach with the organization, administration and implementation of the hockey program - Assist the head coach with training and practice sessions for the hockey team - Assist the head coach with game day planning and implementation, including special events and promotions - Assist the head coach with team & player development, including yearly planning, skill sessions and player meetings - Assist the head coach with recruitment - Assist the head coach with day to day administration (i.e. data tracking and entry) - Lead or assist with video sessions: team and/or individual - Assist the Business Manager with the coordination of community events / activities to help build and maintain presence in the community - Lead or assist fundraising initiatives to further enhance the hockey club - Oversee management and scheduling of league requirements, clinics and related special events including spring hockey programs, and hockey camps throughout the year - Assist with the planning, organization and execution of the Drumheller Dragons hockey school in the community of Drumheller - Oversee the planning, organization and execution of Drumheller Dragons Spring Training Camps, Summer Combine Camps, and Fall Main Camps. Qualifications - Respect In Sport-Coach - Hockey Canada Safety Program (HCSP) - High Performance Level 1 (or working towards) - Experience with the Steva Video software system. - CPR/First Aid - Criminal Record Check - Post- Secondary playing experience considered an asset - Proficiency with MS Office applications, including Excel, Word and Outlook Key Attributes - Enthusiasm and commitment to the sport - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Ability to inspire and motivate others - Proficient in analyzing the sport and developing player skills - Self-starter, with strong interpersonal and organizational skills - Player Development focused - High level of commitment to player education on and off the ice. - Previous administrative support experience is essential - Capable of working independently and in a group environment. Remuneration: Position starting August 8, 2016. The selected candidate is expected to be in office for at least 15-20 hrs per week, in addition to scheduled team time (training, practice & games). Salary is dependent on education, experience and availability.
