In March 2010, Hanoi Independent Living Centre organized a peer counseling
seminar. Participants were 14 members of the Centre and their PAs, including 4
peer counseling leaders, who were trained in Tokyo in 2009, 2 peer counseling
experienced users and 8 other no peer counseling experienced users. This was the
fist seminar organized by members of the Hanoi Independent Living Centre to
develope peer counseling among members of the Centre.
The seminar devided in 2 periods: the first period took place from 13 to 14 of
March in Hanoi; the second period took place from 19 to 20 of March in Do Son
beach, Haiphong. This schedule was made to meet the time of PAs who were
students.
The seminar had finished successfully. Participants had skills and more experiences
in peer counseling as well as independent living. The 8 new comers formed a new
peer counseling group and elected their own leader. This seminar also gave 4 peer
counseling leaders of the Hanoi Independent Living Centre experiences to organize
similar peer counseling seminar in the future.
