Hurling Coaches/Managers Position Advert – Dublin City University DCU Dóchas Éireann GAA Club in Dublin City University is seeking to appoint coaches to the Ashbourne Cup team for the 2016-2017 academic year. The club has successfully grown in participation numbers and competitive levels over the last number of years. The coaches/managers will work with GAA Academy & the student club to co-ordinate and deliver a high quality coaching programme, to increase competitiveness and participation opportunities for DCU students. Main Duties and Responsibilities To create and implement a high quality coaching programme, to maximise participation and performance of competitive teams To manage/coach Ashbourne Cup team to a highly competitive level, taking into consideration players’ commitments with other teams To undertake the necessary planning for each activity session to ensure the programme demonstrates progression throughout, linked to the principles of Long-term Athlete Development (LTAD) & Injury prevention/management To adhere to the DCU Code of Ethics and Conduct for Sports Coaches To provide appropriate mentoring, support and guidance to other coaches, players and student volunteers To continually monitor and evaluate all sessions, activities and programmes and provide the Club Life Committee (CLC) or GAA Games Development Officer with concise progress reports and training logs linked to agreed work programmes; To take responsibility for their own continuous professional development and attend relevant training courses to improve their coaching delivery Personnel Specification Qualifications Experience Skills & Competencies Essential Hold a Foundation/Award One GAA Coaching Qualification Desirable Hold an Award One/Award Two GAA Coaching Qualification; Essential A minimum of 3 years Camogie coaching experience ideally in a range of environments including schools/club/school/third level settings; Desirable 5 years or more Camogie coaching experience in a paid or voluntary capacity, ideally in a range of environments including county/club/school/third level settings; Essential Demonstrate strong leadership qualities and have the ability to delegate effectively Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong planning ability with excellent organisational skills Good understanding of the college hurling scene Capability to lead a high level hurling session Ability and willingness to operate outside of normal hours including evening and weekends Must be self-motivated with the ability to enthuse a wide range of participants Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to manage a group of participants effectively Attend all fixtures/training sessions to include all gym and field sessions Solution orientated Resilient with a can do attitude Please note this post is not a Dublin City University appointment.
