Dear Parents, My ambition this year has been to increase the number of opportunities for children to participate in sporting competitions. This will result in a larger number of teams being entered into new events and representing the school. Unfortunately due to this increase in participation the school has received a number of complaints regarding team selections and the amount of playing time children have amassed. I would like to address these points below. Team Selection I have asked the sports coaches to pick teams for the sports in which they have been working with the children during outdoor P.E. It is not possible to set up and run clubs for every sporting event and as such I work closely with the coaches to ensure that the children will be adequately prepared for competition. The children will be selected on their merits of teamwork and performance during P.E. lessons. Playing time The majority of the events that the school enter will be team competitions. Most of these require the school to have a squad of players with substitutes. The teachers in charge will manage their teams as they deem appropriately and as such all children may not receive the same amount of playing time as others. This is always a delicate situation for everyone involved but I would ask children and parents to respect the teachers’ decisions and be considerate that the teachers are giving up their free time to provide these opportunities for the children. Thank you for your continued support, Mr Poole PE coordinator Dorridge Primary School
