GAME DAY SUPPORT FUNCTIONS
NOTE: There will be training for the score keeper/timer/spotters jobs in late February, along with a detailed game
day set up and field protocol that will be sent to everyone who is assigned to these roles.
 Raptors are responsible for a side line manager, field prep and score keeping at all home games. A score
keeper, game timer and spotter are required. Training is provided, but independent reading to become
familiar with youth field lacrosse is encouraged.
 Away games need one volunteer to assist in game scoring & stats.
Home Game Day Field Set-up & Take Down (2-3 @ each home game, depending on timing of game)
NOTE: Need to have 2-3 at each home game, especially if you are the first or last game of the day, as field set
up/break down, takes several hands, and it should never be the coaches or players job to do this.
 Arrive 30 minutes early and stays after to assist in field set-up & take down

Unlock and move goals to game position

Set-up scorekeeper table and three chairs

Place 5 balls along each end line (10 total)

Place field cones as prescribed by NCJLA rules

If middle game of the day, insure field is reset with balls on end lines

If end game of the day, all of the above equipment, including goals need to be put away & secured.
Side Line Manager (1 @ all games)
NOTE: We are all accountable to lead by our actions on the field, sustaining the players, coaches, umpires, other
team and each other in a positive encouraging culture. It is to keep the audience (parents) in check, serving as a
visible enforcer (like the highway patrol on the side of the freeway that we always slow down for when we see
them).
 Keeps the Spirit of the Game intact on the sidelines, by encouraging ALL parents/friends/cheerleaders to
observe the game with a positive, supportive attitude

Home games only, wears a vest (provided by the club) to signify position and authority on the sideline
Home Game Score Keeper/Game Timer/Spotter (2-3 @ each home game, 1 @ away games)
For the HOME team games, we need to provide 2 – 3 people per game, for 14U-10U ages. 8U’s do not keep
score, but still need a game timer on the field, so 1 person is enough per game. For away games we are required
to have 1 person at the table scorekeeper table to assist.
All of the game day equipment, i.e. balls, score sheets, horn, timer etc. is stored in a small bin keep in the shed at
the fields; the Field Set up Team will pull this out.
Score Keeper
 Bring a roster to each game with player jersey numbers
 Brings 2 bottles of water to each game for the umpire/referee
 Prior to start of game, fills out the rosters on the scoring sheet
 Keeps the official score and statistics on the score sheets
Game Timer
 Keep game time and track penalties
 Communication between timekeeper and referee ensure correct game timing
 Use the air horn
Spotter
 Assists scorekeeper and time keeper, confirming referee calls and field action
