How do I add transitions to my
slides?
Go to the Slide Show menu at the top and
choose Slide Transition.
 From there you can apply the transition to
selected slides, choose the speed, and add a
sound. At the bottom, you can apply to all
slides.
 You can also choose to advance the slide on
mouse click or automatically.
 You have the option at the bottom to
AutoPreview.

How do I animate my text?

You go to the Slide Show menu at the top
and choose either:
 Animation
Schemes (these apply to the whole
slide) OR
 Custom Animation (with this you can make
one bullet of text appear at a time)

With these you can also choose to add the
animation to all slides, at the bottom
How do I add pictures?

To add a picture you go to the Insert menu
and choose Picture. From the submenu,
you can choose either Clipart, a picture
from a file that you have saved,
AutoShapes, Word Art or an organization
chart.
How do I add movies/sounds?

You will use the Insert menu, choose
Movies and Sounds. From the submenu
you can choose Movie from file, Sound
from file, or Record Sound if you have a
microphone.
 In
order to use anything from file, you have to
have it saved there first.
How do I change the background?


You can use the Format menu and choose Slide
Design. On the right pops up a list of choices for
you to choose from.
You can also insert pictures and make them the
background.
 You
have to make it as big as the slide, right click on
the picture and Send to Back so that your text will
appear on top of the picture.
 The other way is to go to Format, Background, pull
down the arrow, choose Fill Effects, go to the Picture
tab and use a picture that is already saved.
How do I change the layout?

You can change the layout of the slide by
going to the Format menu and choose
Slide Layout.
 Here
you can choose to have 2 columns on
your slide, a title slide, a slide with a heading
and a text box, etc.
How do I make my show run
automatically?

Under the Slide Show menu, you can
choose Rehearse Timings. Once you click
it your slide show will start. When you
want the next slide to come up, you press
the right arrow on the tool bar at the top. It
is recording your actions so you can
practice and play it back to see if the
timing is right. If not, you can record
again.
How do I get a song to play for the
entire presentation?




Insert, Movies and Sounds, Sound from file.
Choose a song that is already saved.
Go to Slide Show menu, choose Custom
Animation.
Right click on the song, choose Effect Options,
click on the option that says After __ slides. If you
want it to play through the whole show and you
have 10 slides, you make the number 10. It will
stop after the 10th slide. If you only want it to play
for the first 5 slides, make the number 5.
And…
There are many options when using
Power Point. You have only been
introduced to the most popular options.
 Play around with it and look through all of
the menus. You can make your slide show
GREAT!!
