PROFIT AND LOSS
1. Rohan bought a calculator for Rs. 760 and sold it for Rs. 784. Find his profit and profit percentage.
2. Kirti bought a saree for Rs. 3500 and sold it for Rs. 2300. Find her loss and loss percentage.
3. Tell what is profit or loss in the following transactions. Also find profit percent or loss percent in each
case.
a. Gardening shears bought for Rs. 250 and sold for Rs. 325
b. A shirt bought for Rs. 250 and sold for Rs. 150.
4. By selling a fan for Rs. 810, a dealer makes a profit of Rs. 60. What is the cost price of the fan. What is
his profit percent.
5. By selling a steel almirah for Rs. 5906, a manufacturer suffers a loss of Rs. 294. Find the cost price of the
almirah and his loss percent.
6. The cost price of flower vase is Rs. 120. If the shopkeeper sells it at a loss of 10%, find the price at which

AREA AND PERIMETER
1. Anu wants to fence the garden in front of her house on three sides with lengths 12m, 20m, and 12m. Find
the cost of fencing the garden at the rate of Rs. 150 per metre.
2. Find the area of a square park whose perimeter is 320 m.
3. The area of a rectangular plot is 340m2 and its breadth is 17m. Find the cost of surrounding the plot with a
fence at Rs. 5.70 per metre.
4. Theperimeter of the floor of a rectangular room is 17m and its length is 5m. Find:
a. The breadth of the room
b. The floor area of the room
c. The cost of flooring the room with square tiles of side 25 cm at the rate of Rs. 850 per hundred tiles.
5. The door frame of dimension 3m x 2 m is fixed on the wall of dimension 10m x 10m. Find the total labour
charges for painting the wall if the labour charges for painting 1m2 of the wall Rs. 2.50.
6. The area of a rectangular sheet is 500cm2. If the length of the sheet is 25 cm, what is its breadth. Also find
the perimeter of the rectangular sheet.
7. The area of a squa4re and a rectangle are equal. IF the side of the square is 40 cm and the breadth of the
