MULTI-COMFORT HOUSE STUDENTS CONTEST 2017
EDITION IT IS OFFICIALLY OPENED
We are pleased to announce the launch of 13th International Edition for Multi-Comfort
House Students Contest, which will be held in Madrid, Spain, between May 31st and June 2th,
2017.
Dedicated to architecture students, engineering as well as other disciplines, the event aims at
better disseminating the ideas of energy efficiency and the different comfort dimension: thermal,
acoustic, visual, air quality.
The task for 13th International Edition of Multi-Comfort House Students Contest developed by
ISOVER in close collaboration with Department of Architecture of Municipality of Madrid is the
Urban Regeneration of a community within the perimeter of Gran San Blas area of Madrid.
For 2017 Edition the jury, but also the students will have the possibility to reward proposals for a
sustainable architecture integrated into the urban space, while responding to MAD-RE and
Saint-Gobain Multi-Comfort Criteria and taking into account the climatic conditions and regional
context of Madrid.
Organized since 2005 for all students from 1st to 6th year of study as an individual or in teams of
up to 2 members per team, Multi-Comfort House Students Contest it is a two steps competition:
First Step:

National Stages organized in the following countries: Belarus, Belgium, Bulgaria,
Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Kazakhstan,
Kirghizstan, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Lithuania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain,
South Africa, Turkey, UK, Ukraine.

Online Entry Stage organized for students from countries which are not organizing
local contest.
The winning teams of the National Stages and the winning team of Online Entry Stage will
be invited to attend the International Stage.
Second Step:

International Stage organized in Madrid, Spain, between May 31st and June 2th,
2017, where winning teams from National Stages and the winner team from Online
Entry Stage will participate.
During three days an estimated number of 60 teams from more than 20 countries will submit
their ideas and projects to an international jury formed by foreign architect’s experts in energy
efficiency, representative of Architecture of Municipality of Madrid, local authorities and SaintGobain experts.
In 2016, over 1600 students from more than 100 Universities registered in the First Step of the
competition. Following Second Step, 23 countries, 54 teams from 34 universities, were
attending the 12th International competition organized in Minsk, Belarus.
About Multi Comfort House Students Contest
Multi Comfort House Students Contest it is a yearly contest dedicated to students at architecture
and engineering universities, held for the first time at international level in Bulgaria in 2005.
The competition is structured in two steps: national stage and online stage, followed by an
international stage, were the best projects from each country organizing national stage and the
winner from online stage winner compete.
For 2016 edition, 1600 students were registered for the participation to the national stages. The
2016 International Stage was held in Minsk, Belarus, with 54 student teams from 23
participating countries.
Multi-Comfort House Students Contest 2016 Edition participants had to create a sustainable
architecture responding to the specific needs of Brest Municipality. Their project had to integrate
into the given site while respecting the Saint-Gobain Multi Comfort criteria taking into account
the local climatic conditions.
