My Niece
Photos of my pride and
joy
By Sofia Handelman
My niece is three months and a few days old. Her name is Layla. I
love being an aunt. My niece is intelligent and just found out she had
a tongue. She has good taste in outfits, she is always alert and
looking for new things, except between 6:00pm and 8:00pm when
she is cranky. But if you sing, “Moon, Moon, Moon” there is a
chance she’ll calm down. A small chance. My big brother Adam can’t
sing at all so, he has to wear her in a Baby Bjorn inside the house to
make her stop crying. He looks ridiculous. What a great dad!
Other than the “witching hours” (that’s what Adam calls it) Layla
is friendly. She has a dog named Moxie that likes to play with her
toys. I can’t wait to see what she is going to do when she gets older.
But I know she would want to hear stories and see the pictures from
when she was little. Just like the ones I’m going to show you.
I’m really excited that I get to grow up with Layla because
we are only 10 years apart. I can’t wait to go on a Disney cruise
with her. I want to teach her important things like how to
make “puppy eyes” so my brother will give her whatever she
wants. I would do anything for her (except change her
diaper). My niece loves me and I love her even more. We are
the two girls who always make everyone smile, we are the
two girls who make anyone laugh, and most importantly we
are family forever!
