1. Log in to your admin page
Your administrative (admin) page is the URL you
chose with “/admin” added to the end. For example, if
you chose “palmtree.lifepics.com” you would enter
“palmtree.lifepics.com/admin” to get to your admin
page.
The username and password are the same ones you created when you signed up for your
online site. If you don’t remember this information, you will need to contact us directly. We will
email it to the email address we have on record.
Once you log in, you will see the blue administrative sidebar on the left side
of the screen and the home page content on the rest of the screen.
In the main home page content area you will see a link for “Live Technical
Help” among other things. One of the strongest features of our Pro
Solution is the ability to easily contact us with questions. Where ever you
are in your admin page, simply click the browser “Refresh” button, and you
will see the “Live Technical Help” button. Click on it to chat with a
technician who can remotely access your computer, make adjustments for
you, or show you how to set certain functions while you chat.
2. Contact your fulfilling lab
One of the most important things you need to do is contact the lab you chose to print your
photographs.
The lab controls:
How much to charge you for each print
How you are paid for orders placed through your site
The shipping costs and methods
The first time you contact your fulfillment lab, please discuss the following two things:
Confirm the prices they will be billing you to print your products. Compare the
“Fulfilling Merchant Price” column of the “Default Price List” on your admin page to a
verbal or email list provided directly by your fulfillment lab. More information on the
“Default Price List” is on the next page.
Decide on a set date every month that the lab will send you a check for the profit on
your orders.
Shipping: Your print lab has the option to automatically synchronize their shipping information
with your site. If they have done this, you will not see “Shipping Carriers” and “Ship Rates” links
on your admin page. If you do see these links, contact us and let one of our technicians
synchronize your shipping options. If shipping is not set up correctly, errors will occur on the
ordering page.
3. Set Your Prices
Under the “Products” link are the three choices which control the price you charge your
customers:
Default Price List
Add/Edit/Delete Additional
Price Lists
Gifts & Templates
Gifts & Templates
We recommend you first decide if you want to offer gift items.
1. Log in to your admin page and click “Products
2. Choose “Gifts & Templates”
3. Mark the check box next to “Allow customers to create Gifts & Templates” to offer gift
and template items, or unmark the check box to only offer prints
4. Click “Update”
Note, you do not have to offer all of the gifts your lab produces. You will be able to choose
which of the gifts and templates to offer your customers on the “Default Price List” page.
If you do not want to offer gifts, or cannot decide if you want to offer gifts now, leave the check
box unmarked. You can follow the above steps at any time and choose to offer gifts.
Default Price List
The “Default Price List” lists all the products you have
available to offer your customers.
There are two check boxes to the left of every product,
and three editable text boxes to the right. The check
boxes control if and where the product shows up in the
cart, while the text boxes control the price of the item.
To set up your products with prices:
1. Choose the products you want to offer by marking the “Use” check box on the far left. All
items with the “Use” check box marked will be available for ordering. Note: If you do not
have the “Use” box marked for an item, it will not be available in the cart
2. Decide which products you want to show in the
“Select quantities for the entire order” box of the
shopping cart. Note: Gifts cannot be chosen
3. Mark the “QuickPics” check box for the products you
chose. The “QuickPics” sizes will also be
conveniently located next to the preview of the image
for the customers to easily choose. Note: Products
marked as “Use” but not as “QuickPics” will show up
under the “Other Sizes” category in the shopping cart
4. Enter the price you want to charge in
the “Price Customers Pay” column.
This is the price your customers will
be charged per item. Note: When you
determine how much to charge,
please keep in mind the amount the
lab will charge you to produce the
item (listed in the “Fulfilling Merchant
Price” column) and the 10-15% LifePics charges for commission. For example, if you
charge $4.79 for a 5x7 print and your lab charges $1.79 to produce it, your profit for that
print would be:
$4.79 {print price} - ($4.79 x 0.15){LifePics Commission} - $1.79 {lab fulfillment charge} = $2.29
5. Once all your selections have been made, go to the bottom of the page, enter your
name, and click “Update Products.” Note, if you do not enter your name and click
“Update Products” your changes will not be saved
Other Columns to know about
“SKU” and “Name”: “SKU” is a code used between LifePics and your print lab to get the correct
size to print. “Name” is what your print lab has decided to call the product and what your
customers will see when ordering.
“Fulfilling Merchant Price”: This is the price your print lab will charge you to print the product. As
stated on page 2, please verify these prices with your lab. Not all labs update these prices on a
regular basis.
“List Price” and “Savings Message”: These two text boxes are for items you currently have on
sale. Place the price you regularly charge in “List Price” and the sale price in “Price Customers
Pay.” You can then enter a message such as “Save 10% today!” in the “Savings Message” box.
4. Customize Your Site’s Appearance
On the home page of your consumer site,
you can customize the three public
albums you want to appear as well as the
“Logo” and “Welcome Image.” To access
the settings for these features click on
“Content” in the blue sidebar of your
admin page.
Hint: There are three ways to see how
changes effect your customer site. For
more information on this, please see our
FAQ “How do I view my site as a
customer?”
Public Event Settings
The “Public Event Settings” page allows you to specify the three public albums you want
customers to be able to see on your home page. Once you have enough public albums to need
this setting, please see the “Complete LifePics Pro Solution Guide” for more information.
Welcome Image and Dealer Logos
We offer three choices for your “Welcome Image” and “Logo:” “Default,” “JPG or GIF,” or
“HTML.”
To specify how the “Logo” and “Welcome Image” appear on your site:
1. Click “Content” in the blue admin sidebar
2. Choose either “Welcome Image” or “Dealer Logos”
3. Choose “Default,” “JPG or GIF,” or “HTML”
Default
Logo: You will be prompted to enter your business name as text. The
sample on the previous page demonstrates how this appears
Welcome Image: We provide a default image for your convenience. The
default will be used if you do not use your own image
JPG or GIF
Logo: If you already have an image you use as your logo you can upload
it and choose it with this option. The logo must be 825 pixels wide to be
accepted
Welcome Image: If you have an image to use you can upload it and
choose it with this option. The “Welcome Image” must be 431 pixels wide
by 448 pixels tall with a 72 dpi to be accepted. When you chose this
option, you must upload the image to the “Web Files” page in order to
select the image on the “Welcome Image” page. When you click “Select”
you will be taken to the “Web Files” page, but you will need to return to
the “Welcome Image” page and choose this option again in order to
select your picture.
HTML: We allow you to enter HTML code. We recommend this option for
advanced HTML users only
4. Once you have made your choice, click “Select”
5. Choose Your Settings
The options under the “Settings” link in the blue sidebar set up the back end of your site. The
options we will address here are “Pickup Options,” “Cropping Options,” “Edit Watermark,” and
“Black White and Sepia.” For information on the other settings, please see the “Complete
LifePics Pro Solution Guide.” To see the “Setting” options, click “Settings.”
Note: If the first two options you see have to do with shipping, you need to contact our
technicians, as stated on page 3.
Pickup Options
The “Pickup Options” page allows you to control where your customer picks up their prints.
1. Click on the “Settings” link
2. Select “Pickup Options”
3. Choose where your customers can pick up their orders. There are four basic ways you
can set it up:
If you select only “Allow Pickup at “<your location>,” you will receive an email
from the lab telling you the prints are finished. You will need to pick them up from
the lab. The customers will then come to you to get the prints
If you select “Allow pickup at <print lab>,” the customer will receive an email once
the order is complete notifying them to pick up their prints at the lab
If you leave both check boxes unmarked, customers will only be able to choose
to have their prints mailed to them
If you mark the “SELECT ALL LOCATIONS” check box, the customer will have
the option to pick up from either you or your lab
4. Once you make your selection, press “Update Pickup Locations”
Edit Watermark
We highly recommend utilizing the watermark feature.
While we have disabled the right click feature for all
browsers when viewing images from your customer site,
every computer has a way to “Print Screen” which
captures a low resolution version of what is currently
displayed on the monitor. Watermarks ensure your images are safe even from this low
resolution pirating. Note: The watermark does not print on the final product.
We recommend using your name, your company name, or “Copyright <your name>” as your
watermark.
To set up your watermark:
1. Click “Settings,” then “Edit Watermark”
2. Type in the text you want to appear on your image
3. Choose an opacity (the closer the number is to 1, the hard it will be to see) and angle
(the number is a degree set from the horizon)
4. Click “Update” (see screen shots on the right for an example)
5. Upload a sample image and preview your settings
6. Make any adjustments to fine tune your watermark
Note: Watermark settings need to be completed prior to uploading your images. Once photos
are in your account, they cannot be readjusted from this page.
Black White and Sepia
You have the option to allow your customers to make any image Black & White or Sepia. Some
photographers allow this option, while others
prefer to make these adjustments themselves or
not offer it at all. It is your choice.
To set up your choice:
1. Log in to your admin page
2. Click “Settings” in the blue sidebar
3. Click “Black White and Sepia”
4. To enable customers to make images
Black & White or Sepia, mark the
check box. To disable this feature,
unmark the check box
5. Click “Update”
6. Control Customer Sign in
You have the ability to control whether or not you want to require your customers to sign in
before they view your images. The
advantage to making them sign in is you
can track who came into your site and
email them at a later point for marketing
purposes. Also, it sets up an account for
your customer, which allows them to add
images to a “Favorites” album, leave the
site, and return to those same images.
Guests who don’t sign in appear as
anonymous in your records, and once
they leave the site they will need to start over when they return.
To control customer sign in:
1. Log in to your admin page
2. Click on “Guestbook” in the blue sidebar and select “Require Email”
3. Mark the check box if you want to require customers to sign in. Unmark the check
box if you want to allow customers to enter without signing in
4. Click “Update” to save your selection
7. Add Photos to Your Site
Before customers can see images on your site, you must first upload them through your admin
page.
1. Log in to your admin page
2. Click on “Login to Account” in the blue sidebar
3. You will see your “Welcome Image” with three links on the left
side. Click “Add Photos”
4. The first time you upload images to your site, you will need to install our Uploader,
which uses an Active-X application. Follow the instructions for this one-time
installation
5. Once the Uploader is installed, click “Change Album” at the top of the page to enter
your new album’s name or select an existing album
6. Select your upload speed
“Fastest” (prints up to 5x7),
“Fast” (prints up to 11x14), or
“Regular” (prints whatever the
original will allow)
7. You will see your computer
folders listed along the left in
the upload screen. Navigate to
the folder where the images are stored
8. Mark the check boxes for individual images or click “Select All” to choose all the
images in the folder
9. Click “Send”
Note: The “Send” button will not be active until at least one image is selected to upload.
8. Set up Events
Now that your photos are on your site, you need to
organize them
1. Return to the “Login to Account” page
where you can see the “Welcome Image”
and click “View Photos”
2. Find the album you want to work with and
click “Event Settings”
3. Choose if this is a “Private Event” or “Public Event”
Public: The album will be accessible
from your “Home Page”
Private: The album will only be
accessible with an “Event Code.” The
customer must know the event code, it
is not provided on the site
4. If you choose “Private Event” enter an
“Event Code” and click “Update”
5. If you choose “Public Event” click
“Publish”
