Lesson Outcomes (Objectives)/ Evaluative Criteria Equipment Students will be able to identify 3 of the main safety rules during broomball during a check for Poly Spots understanding at the end of the class Yarn Balls Broom Ball Sticks Music Assessments: Teacher Observation student safety rules check for understanding (Informal Assessment) Interdisciplinary Connections: Mathematics Time 3 min Learning Experience/ Activity/Concept and/or Assessment Task (Indicate Teaching Style) (Label Content Analysis: E, R, A) Change and Attendance Students will have the opportunity to change (not necessary) only proper foot attire is necessary Role will be called for the students in the class Procedure Students will enter the class and will sit around the basketball key, some will enter the locker room and change first but then they will join the class around the key while attendance is being taken Formation Points of Emphasis/Teaching Cues/Safety Concerns Make sure everyone in the class is wearing appropriate footwear Getting seated in a fast and orderly fashion so that we can spend more time working on skill acquisition. 2 min 1 min 7-10 min Blob Tag Instruction Students will be informed that they will be participating in a warm-up game called blob tag Transition to blob tag Students will get up from the key and spread out throughout the gym Blob Tag Students will participate in a game of blob tag, in blob tag there will be two taggers to start. If someone is tagged they join the blob by joining hands with them. The blob can only be three people long. Students will remain seated and pay attention to the instructions of blob tag 2 taggers will be selected before the class transitions to blob tag Students will get up from the key and spread out throughout the gym Students will wait for music to start to begin playing blob tag Moving in a quick and orderly fashion to save an ample amount of time for warm up activity Students will play several rounds of blob tag Safety Rules: No swinging classmates Watch where they are running No hard tagging Making sure that everyone in the class understands the rules of blob tag Safety Rules: No swinging classmates Watch where they are running No hard tagging 1 min Transition to the key Students will move from being spread out through the gym to the key Students will take a seat at the key and wait for instruction Moving in a quick and orderly fashion to leave ample amount of time for instruction 4 min Broomball activity instruction Students will be instructed how to properly pass (forehand and backhand), shoot the ball, and dribble Students will remain seated at the key and listen to shooting, passing and dribbling instruction Paying attention to skill instruction and participating in demonstrations 3 min Transition to passing practice Students will get 2 broomball sticks one for them and one for their partner. The other partner will get a ball. Students will spread out in the gym 8 feet away from their partner Students will get sticks Students will get yarn ball Students will line up across from their partner Moving in a quick and orderly fashion to leave ample amount of time for skill development Passing practice Students will practice passing with their partner. Forehand and backhand will be practiced 5-7 min Shooting practice While students are passing the shooting activity will be set up, Students will move with their partners to the shooting station to practice shooting. A goal will be set up and students will shoot from 5 feet, 7 feet then on a goalie 5-7 min Dribbling practice Students will participate in dribbling/shooting activity. Non-participants will be expected to do the assessment and will help with all equipment. They will also help classmates Modifications: Students who need modification can use a smaller stick if it’s too heavy Students can practice passing and shooting from a shorter distance
