Dino Gems Strength. Cunning. Trickery. Celebrate the mayhem. 2-4 Players Ages 8+ Authors: Created by Tyler Beardsley, Artoun Festekjian, and Will Luna for a Comp150: Game Design assignment. Materials: Game board (small squares around larger shapes), a six-sided die, an eight-sided die, coin tokens, soldier tokens, four colored pawns, sad-looking girl figure, six dinosaur figures, and six different groups of dino-gem tokens (four of each type) Board Set-up: Each player places a pawn of his/her favorite color onto a corner of the board. Each player rolls a six-sided die, the highest roller goes first, with play following clockwise. A different dino-gem token should be placed in each of the six larger spaces on the board, with a dinosaur placed on top of each gem. The rest of the board pieces should be put off to the side, grouped appropriately. Objective: To collect one of each dino-gem. The first player to collect all six different dino-gems wins the game. (Option for a shorter game: collect four different dinogems) Overarching Rules: Anytime a maximum value is rolled on a die that player may take a coin token from the treasury (i.e. a six on a six-sided die or an eight on an eight-sided die). For each soldier token owned by a player, that player may add one to the result of any Dino Arena roll or Battle roll. A player may only own up to three soldier tokens. The Turn: 1. The Movement Phase. The player rolls a six-sided die. They must then decide in which direction they wish to move. A player must always move their pawn the total shown on the face of the die, and cannot backtrack in their movements. If a player lands on an arena square (marked orange), they may choose to enter the Dino Arena. If a player lands on a space occupied by another player, they may do battle with that player. If they land on a blue space, they may roll to move again. Extra Specific: If a pawn lands on an arena square occupied by another player, they must first do battle with that player before entering the Dino Arena. Dino Arena - The player rolls an eight-sided die. If the roll is a 6 or higher that player may take the dino-gem and all other tokens in that Dino Arena. Then replace the same type of dino-gem from the treasury into the corresponding Dino Arena. If the roll is less than 6, the player must place one of their tokens into that Dino Arena (tokens include soldier figures, dino-gems, and coin tokens). If the player has no tokens to relinquish, they lose their following turn (placing the sad looking girl figure in front of them as a reminder). Doing Battle - Each player rolls an eight-sided die, whomever has the higher number wins the battle (with a tie defaulting to the player who initiated the battle). The winner may take any token from the loser, including a coin token, a soldier, or a dino-gem. 2. The Buy Phase. Before ending his or her turn, a player may purchase any unowned dino-gems or soldiers by depositing the appropriate number of coin tokens into the treasury. A player may own up to three soldiers. Prices are as follows: Dino-Gems cost five coin tokens Soldier tokens - price varies o If a player currently has no soldiers the cost is 3 coin tokens o If a player currently has one soldier the cost is 5 coin tokens o If a player currently has two soldiers the cost is 7 coin tokens
