Step-by-step Move-in McGill Residences The following directions assume that you are at the intersection of Sherbrooke and University Street. If you are driving and get lost, Google Maps and Apple Maps both have this area well mapped out. Just be aware that the majority of the nearby streets are one-way, and that Google and Apple Maps don’t always label them as such. Montreal has many one-way streets! General Moving Information nn REMEMBER Never leave your belongings unattended or your vehicle unlocked during move-in! nn Respect that parking in unloading areas is limited. As soon as you are finished you MUST move your vehicle to a longer term parking location. nn If you are unloading on the side of a city street, remember that you are in a No Stopping Zone, so you must put your four-way flashers on! Do not leave your car unattended - you may be ticketed! Royal Victoria College The Royal Victoria College front entrance is located half a block (approximately 50 meters) north of the corner of Sherbrooke and University. The address of Royal Victoria College is 3425 University St. 1. You can stop but not park in front of Royal Victoria College. 2. Have someone stay with the vehicle and start unloading while you get your keys inside. 3. Your driver MUST move your vehicle to a nearby parking lot as soon as you have unloaded. 4. Do not leave your vehicle or your belongings unattended. 5. Start moving your belongings into your room. 6. If you accidentally drive past Royal Victoria College, then you need to drive up University St to Prince Arthur, turn right, and take another right on Hutchinson which will take you back down the hill to Sherbrooke. nn C onsider bringing a trolley from home, as it will make moving into your new home much easier. nn Students leave behind hundreds of dollars in unused or under-used stuff each year, so bring only what you need! Read the section pertaining to your Residence to see what will be included in your room, and remember that virtually anything you need can easily be purchased near campus when you actually need it. New Residence Hall 1. Go north on University and turn right on Prince Arthur. 2. Continue along Prince Arthur to avenue du Parc. New Rez is on the north-east corner of Prince Arthur and du Parc. 3. Turn left onto du Parc. The driveway and building entrance are just north of Prince Arthur on du Parc. The address of New Rez is 3625 Av du Parc. 4. You can stop but not park in the driveway of New Rez. If the drive-way is full, you may be able to wait on du Parc. 5. While you’re getting your keys from the front desk, your driver should start unloading your belongings. 6. Do not leave your vehicle or your belongings unattended. 7. Once you’ve got your keys and your stuff is all unloaded, your driver MUST move your vehicle to a nearby parking lot as soon as you have unloaded. 8. Start moving your belongings into your room. Step-by-step Move-in McGill Residences La Citadelle 1. La Citadelle is located just down the road from the corner of Sherbrooke West and University, on the South side of Sherbrooke. The address is 410 Sherbrooke West. 2. You can stop but not park in the designated area in front of 410 Sherbrooke West. 3. While you’re getting your keys at the front desk, your driver should start unloading your belongings. 4. Do not leave your vehicle or your belongings unattended. 5. Once you’ve got your keys and your belongings are all unloaded, your driver MUST move your vehicle to a nearby parking lot (you will receive direction upon arrival). 6. Start moving your belongings into your room. Carrefour Sherbrooke 1. Carrefour Sherbrooke is just down the road from the corner of Sherbrooke West and University, on the North side of Sherbrooke. The address is 475 Sherbrooke West. 2. You can stop but not park in the designated area in front of 475 Sherbrooke West. 3. While you’re getting your keys at the front desk, your driver should start unloading your belongings. 4. Do not leave your vehicle or your belongings unattended. 5. Once you’ve got your keys and your belongings are all unloaded, your driver MUST move your vehicle to a nearby parking lot (you will receive direction upon arrival). 6. Start moving your belongings into your room University Hall Go north on University for one block, and the building will be located on your right. University Hall is the red brick building with the arch just below the corner of University and Milton, 3473 University Street. 1. You can access the parking from Milton by going a few blocks out of your way. 2. Continue up University to Prince Arthur (the next street up on the right). Take a right on to Prince Arthur, followed by another right at the lights onto Durocher, the 3rd street on the right. You will drive on Durocher St. for one block, until you reach Milton. Turn right onto Milton and head back towards University St. You will find the entrance to the parking lot at 660 Milton on your left, about 50 metres before you reach University St. again. 3. Have someone stay with the vehicle and start unloading while you get your keys at the reception desk inside University Hall. 4. Your driver MUST move your vehicle to a nearby parking lot as soon as you have unloaded. 5. Start moving your belongings into your room. MORE The MORE and Graduate Office (located at 3575 University Street) is open 9 AM - 5 PM August 29th and 30th and 8 AM - 4 PM each weekday the following week. Move-ins outside these hours need to be arranged at least 48 hours in advance so the keys can be left at one of the other residence area front desks, some of which have extended hours. 1. Go North on University. Stop at the MORE and Graduate Student Housing Office inside at 3575 University St. to get your keys (do not unload your vehicle here!!). 2. Drive to your MORE House. All but one (3471 Peel) of the MORE Houses are located a short distance from the MORE Office, and have alleys near or behind them for unloading (NB: there is no parking in the unloading areas.) 3. Once you’ve found a good stopping place near your House, start unloading your belongings. Your driver MUST move your vehicle to a nearby parking lot as soon as you have unloaded. 4. Do not leave yourvehicle or your belongings unattended. 5. Start moving your belongings into your room. Driving directions from 3641 University to 3471 Peel: 1. Make a left hand turn from University on to Avenue des Pins. 2. Go straight on Pins for 450 m. 3. At rue Peel make a left hand turn and go straight for 350 m; 4. 3471 Peel will be on the left, just past Docteur Penfield. Step-by-step Move-in McGill Residences Upper Rez: Douglas, McConnell, Molson, and Gardner Halls 1. Go north up University Street from Sherbrooke. 2. Continue up University past Avenue des Pins all the way to the top of the hill (past the Royal Victoria Hospital, and the big arch over the road). 3. At the top of University you should turn slightly to the right to continue north on University towards the Bishop Mountain Hall complex. To get to Douglas Hall: A parking attendant at this junction will direct you to the unloading area behind Douglas Hall. To get to the rest of the Upper Residences: As you curve around the circular Bishop Mountain Hall complex, you will pass on your right, in order: McConnell Hall, Molson Hall, and Gardner Hall 4. Pull into the designated unloading area for your residence, as indicated by staff. 5. While someone waits with the car, get in line to check in and pick up your keys at Bishop Mountain Hall (the large round building in the centre of Upper Rez). 6. While you’re checking in, your driver should start unloading your belongings. Your driver MUST move your vehicle to a nearby parking lot as soon as you have unloaded. 7. Do not leave your vehicle or your belongings unattended. 8. Once you’ve got your keys and your stuff is all unloaded, start moving your belongings into your room. Make sure to move your vehicle to a nearby parking lot so that you are not blocking others. Solin To get to Solin Hall: nn If you are on Highway 20, follow the signs to Centre Ville (downtown) and take the exit to Atwater. nn If you are on Highway 10, take the exit to Atwater (do not take the Centre Ville exit, go further). nn If you are coming from downtown, make your way to Atwater St. Once on Atwater St.: 1. Go south on Atwater to Delisle 2. T urn right on Delisle, continue 2 blocks to the end of the street. 3. Turn right on Rose-de-Lima. 4. Turn right onto Lionel-Groulx. The address of Solin Hall is 3510 Lionel-Groulx. 5. Solin Hall is the big red brick building with the huge windows (it is the only building at this end of Lionel-Groulx St.) 6. You can stop but not park in front of Solin Hall while you pick up your keys at the main entrance. Welcome Staff will direct you to unloading areas and daytime parking. Solin Hall can also be reached by Metro on the Green line, 4 stops west of McGill station. Get off at Lionel-Groulx. From Lionel-Groulx metro station walk south on Atwater and follow the directions above.
