Mrs. Cox, Mrs. Tucker and Mrs. Smith expect students to show leadership at all times. Being on the news team requires that you miss about 15-20 minutes of your morning time in your classroom for one quarter. You must check with your teacher to see if this will work for your circumstances. Expectations: Be a good role model in your classroom and throughout the building including the bus. If you are written up for discipline or sent to the ABC room you could be removed from the news team. All classroom assignments must be turned in on time. If you repeatedly have back assignments you will be let go of the news team. Remember first things first! Be courteous and respectful when entering classrooms to take pictures for the news. Be responsible for expensive tech equipment such as cameras and computers. Be on time to the library. All students need to report to their classroom to check in and report to the library at 7:35. You may get off the bus early if you need to eat breakfast. Let Mrs. Cox know if you need a note. *The news team needs six students per quarter. Jobs include ____ Camera Crew- This person needs a steady hand an eye for detail. Some experience with a digital camera and videoing would be helpful. _____ KY researcher-This person will use the Internet to research facts about KY to share with school. Creates a slide of information on the computer about KY. You are the tour guide for students learning about KY! _____ Slide Presenter-This job requires an organized tech savvy person. You will use Keynote/Powerpoint to create slideshow for news. There is lots of typing and working with the Internet. ______ Announcer-This person needs to have a clear voice and be a good reader. Not afraid to let their voice be heard! Select three choices to be considered. The mission of this program is as follows: The STLP Mission THE MISSION OF THE STUDENT TECHNOLOGY LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (STLP) IS TO ADVANCE THE INDIVIDUAL CAPABILITIES OF STUDENTS; TO MOTIVATE ALL STUDENTS; AND TO CREATE LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH THE USE OF TECHNOLOGY. The North Warren STLP team will meet on Mondays after school as a large group this fall. Dates to be announced. Quarterly team members selected will perform news duties during their assigned time of year. Large group meetings will be times all members can brainstorm tech ideas, learn about photography, camera equipment and collaborate on special projects. STLP sponsors would like for all involved to meet on Mondays after school, but we understand if there is a transportation issue or another after school activity. Teacher Sponsors: Mrs. Cox, Mrs. Tucker and Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Steele. Other points to consider: After school snack if students wants to bring one. After school pick up time is at 4:00 pm at the front of the building. T-shirt---$10.00-$15.00. Fall Showcase-Regional Showcase to WKU. Bus provided. Student will be responsible for lunch. Everyone on STLP team may attend this trip. Four students will have been selected to speak on behalf of the club project for competition. Spring Showcase-State Competition to UK. If our project places at regional showcase four students will be ask to go to Lexington to speak for our STLP. A parent or guardian must chaperone and provide transportation. There is an overnight stay. Hotel room plus meals will be the student’s responsibility. Parents may work out traveling together.
