ISA or PCI?
Depending upon which kit you ordered, you
will be provided either an ISA Ethernet card or
a PCI Ethernet card. These cards are wired differently and must be plugged into either an
ISA or a PCI slot on your motherboard.

•
After you determine what type of card you
have, you can install it.
PCI slots contain many more pins
than ISA slots.
PCI slots are set further from the rear
of the computer than ISA slots.
PCI slots have a “key” to prevent ISA
cards from being accidentally inserted.

Ethernet software installation
Melco’s Ethernet network supports Microsoft Windows 95 and Windows 98. After you
have installed the hardware portion of your kit (refer to the other side of this sheet),
you must install the drivers for it.
1
Turn the power ON to your computer. Windows 95/98 will detect the network card, and since you have already inserted the Windows 95/98 CD
(from the Hardware Installation side of this sheet), it will notify you that it is
about to install the necessary software.
8
When Windows 95/98 prompts you to restart the computer,
answer Yes.
As Windows restarts, the Microsoft Networking dialog box will
appear. This dialog box prompts you to enter a user name and
password. Click on the Cancel button, as no information
should be entered at this time.
When Windows 95/98 has finished opening, you
must change the network properties; click on
®Settings®
®Control Panel to display the
Start®
control panel.
Double-click on the Network icon.

If you are not asked for Computer or Workgroup names, it is
simply because you have a newer revision of Windows 95/98.

OK. You may enter whatever you wish in these fields; you must enter a
name in both the Computer and Workgroup names, but you may leave the
