Personal-My husband, Barry, our two sons Dan and Jon and I have lived in Stanford for more than 13 years, I have been a committee volunteer and love the rural, small town atmosphere of Stanford. I received my degree in nursing in Alaska where I worked in emergency medicine in Fairbanks and Anchorage. I teach Adult Education at Ulster BOCES where I have worked for the past 12 years and wrote the curriculum for the Health Occupations Medical Assistant Program. Philosophy-I have met a lot of people while going door to door and we all have the same beliefs; Stanford should continue lowering taxes, practice fiscal responsibility and not pass laws that infringe on property rights. The Towns Master Plan is a prime example of overregulation. In its current form, the plan infringes on an individual’s property rights and hurts our local businesses that our families and seniors depend on. These businesses are vital to our residents so they don’t have to travel out of town to shop for food, medicine or housing supplies. We have seen the closing of our largest employer, Stanford Machine, as well as a local restaurant, Home Plate and we need to be aware of the effects of how the Master Plan and the required zoning will impact our residents and businesses while ensuring Stanford remains the unique rural community it has always been. The people in this town work hard, believe in personal responsibility and want less government interference in their lives.
