Raising Your Game

Raising Your Game
Raising Your Game is a development programme aimed at members of the
executive cohort who are relatively new in their executive role. Raising Your Game
combines six executive coaching sessions with three one-day workshops spread
throughout the year. It is aimed at supporting newer members of the executive cohort
to settle well into their role and become high performers.
Raising Your Game is designed to complement Board level leadership development
in preparing and sustaining executive directors and senior managers to successfully
navigate the challenges of the corporate role. People who are relatively new into their
executive positions or those within the executive cohort who have recently
substantially extended their responsibility will benefit most from this programme as it
aims to support people to effectively contend with the sheer breadth and volume of
work in constantly changing and uncertain times.
Raising Your Game is one of the national development opportunities provided as part
of the Framework for Executive Directors’ and Senior Managers’ Leadership
Development. There will be 24 places available on the programme for executive
directors or senior managers (e.g. individuals who have responsibility for a major
area of operational or strategic activity who may/may not report to a Chief Executive).
Three one day workshops will be held throughout the year, lead by Peter Shaw, a
visiting Professor of Leadership Development at Newcastle University Business
School. Participants must be able to attend all workshops when they apply for the
programme. Each participant will take part in a series of six executive coaching
sessions, which will commence after the first workshop. Coaching will be spread
throughout the year and will be completed before the final workshop. Each participant
will be offered a choice from three possible executive coaches drawn from the
national Executive Coaching Register. The intention is that the tailored coaching
support will enable participants to shape their development priorities so that they
settle into and maintain effectiveness in their constantly changing role.
Boards who wish to nominate members of their executive cohort to the Programme
should contact Sharon Millar for an application pack.
