Your child at Montessori
Welcome to those children who have just

learning experience. We cannot stress this
strongly enough. Maria Montessori called
play, ‘...the child’s work’. It is through play
that a child learns and gains experience in
how things work, why things happen and how
to cope with life.
As adults we all need practice in order to
perfect skills. For a child it is even more
than this. Montessori saw the child at this
age, 0-6, as constructing themselves. It is as
if they have an inner set of instructions that
must be followed in order to become the
adult of the future.
Spare Clothing
Please remember to bring a
spare set of clothing with you, in case your
child gets wet or messy. We do have spare
clothes at nursery, but it can sometimes be
very upsetting to wear clothes that are not a
Settling-in
As we have a lot of new starters, it may be a good
time to remind you of our settling-in policy.
If your child is upset at you leaving, we will take a
very gentle approach to the separating process. At
first you may need to stay with them. This can
take a while but we are very patient! When they
are ready, we will suggest that you settle them at
an activity, say you are going to the shops, say
goodbye and leave. The amount of time you are
