"If you give things a chance then people will give you a chance."
You can help Choysez improve the lives of young people in a variety of
ways- why not take a look and see what you could do?
Choysez is an independent charity
providing local young people with
the opportunity to gain recognised
qualifications and accredited
courses through an inspiring mix
of indoor and outdoor activities.
We have been supporting young
people throughout
Northumberland since 1998 and,
while we are based in Bedlington,
we are able to reach young people
throughout the county. We can
also provide our young people
with the opportunity to spend
some time away from home at our
cottage in the heart of Kielder
Forest, where they can relax and
reflect upon their lives.
Offering an alternative to
mainstream education, we seek to
build young people’s confidence
and prepare them either to return
to school or to enter into the job
market; to raise their
aspirations by giving them
important social and
employable skills and by
offering guidance on
life choices.
Thank you
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us. In
this information pack you will find out a bit more
about us and the voluntary positions at Choysez. If
you would like to apply for any of the positions, please
visit our website to download an application form.
At Choysez our volunteers are invaluable as they
provide crucial support to both the charity and our
young people. In return, we offer our volunteers
valuable experience, free training and the opportunity
to learn new skills; to give a little and get a little
something back.
There are various opportunities for you to do this and
whether it be working with the young people or
helping out behind the scenes, you will be helping to
shape the next generation- and yourself too.

the more we have’.

The Opportunities
Teaching Assistant
We have opportunities for youth workers and classroom
assistants to contribute to the fantastic progress we are
already making with our young people. You will be
involved in both classroom and outdoor programmes
and will help contribute to our aim of providing young
people with both employable and social skills by
planning and facilitating activities. You should enjoy
working with children and being outdoors as well as in
the classroom. If you are looking for a challenging and
rewarding voluntary position, you could help make a
difference to the lives of our young people by
volunteering with us.
Cook
Do you enjoy cooking? Could you use your kitchen skills
to help Choysez? We are looking for enthusiastic
individuals to assist in the preparation of meals for our
young people during their lunch break (12:00-13:00).
This role involves preparing both hot meals and packed
lunches and could lead to the opportunity to get involved
in the planning of the menus.
‘For our young people making the
right decisions in life starts with
realising that their decisions are
theirs to make’.
Administrator/ Receptionist
Volunteers are needed to help in the Choysez office with various administration and
reception duties including filing, photocopying, and general clerical work. This could
also involve answering telephone calls and database work. Good ICT skills would be
helpful in this role.
Driver
Drivers are needed to help transport our young people to and from Choysez. This opportunity
involves driving one of our minibuses, for which you will need a D1 licence. Our young people
take part in many activities away from Choysez and you will be responsible for getting them
there and back safely.
