auction items are needed. We already have items such as
Southwest Tickets – more of that caliber, please!
Harvey, substituting for Steve O., introduced Andrew
and Maylene from the Cancer Society. Andrew thanked
us for our continuing help with the
‘Relay for Life’. He reminded us that the
ACA
fought
powerful
tobacco
companies for laws to lessen smoking.
He outlined the many events and programs sponsored
by the Society. In October, there is a ‘Breast Cancer
Walk, at LA Live. There is also Coaches vs. Cancer. The
goal is to cure cancer.
Volunteers are always needed for ‘The Road to
Recovery’ who drive patients to doctor
appointments. This is a free service to
clients. Corporate programs are also
available to provide screening and
guidelines.
Maylene outlined the many opportunities for planned
giving to the ACA.
Programs teaching women how to work with lost
eyelashes, as well as wig availability are so important.
And, The Discovery Shop, which is like no other Thrift
Shop, funds many programs at the ACA. There is also a
‘leadership council’ who are ambassadors to the
community and serve the needs of the area.
For information, call 1-800-227-2345.
Lisa presented each of our presenters with
our blue fine china mug and when Maylene
drew the winning 50/50 ticket, there was no
response -- oh, oh – Lisa checked her
numbers and----SHE WON!!!

The Objects of Kiwanis
The six permanent Objects of Kiwanis
International were approved by Kiwanis club
delegates at the 1924 Convention in Denver,
Colorado. Through the succeeding decades,
they have remained unchanged.
• Object 1 - To give primacy to the human and
spiritual rather than to the material values of life.
• Object 2 - To encourage the daily living of the Golden
Rule in all human relationships.
• Object 3 - To promote the adoption and the
application of higher social, business, and
professional standards.
• Object 4 - To develop, by precept and example, a
more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable
citizenship.
• Object 5 - To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a
practical means to form enduring friendships, to
render altruistic service, and to build better
communities.
• Object 6 - To cooperate in creating and maintaining
that sound public opinion and high idealism which
make possible the increase of righteousness, justice,
patriotism and goodwill
