Four firms have made the short list of which contractor will design
and build a 100,000-square-foot office tower near Osceola County's
smart sensor center.
The deadline for developer teams to submit their proposals to build
an office tower near the $75 million, 109,000-square-foot Florida
Advanced Manufacturing Research Center, ended today. The fourstory building will house the International Consortium for Advanced
Manufacturing Research— the group that will manage and operate
the Florida Advanced Manufacturing Research Center — as well as
Imec, a Belgium-based nanotechnology company that partnered with
the consortium.

Developers submitted proposals to build a 100,000
square foot office building adjacent to the Florida
Advanced Manufacturing Research Center.
Out of the four teams on the short list, one is based locally. The teams are: Jacksonville-based Signet
Development, Orlando-based Upshot Real Estate Fund, Franklin, Tenn.-based Century HealthRealty, and
Washington, D.C.-based Municipal Consolidation & Construction.
Rebecca Jones, procurement services director with Osceola County, told Orlando Business Journal the
county's staff will begin reviewing the proposals over the holiday weekend, host a staff meeting sometime
next week and develop a report for the county manager's review.
The office building will be part of Osceola's 500-acre, high-tech research park. While the Florida Advanced
Manufacturing Research Center will anchor the research park, focusing on the development of smart
sensors — a market that is said to have a global impact of $154 billion by 2020 — the park also will have a
mix of residential, retail, restaurant and hotel facilities, creating a live/work/play environment.

opened earlier this year. And see the slideshow for a look at construction of the Florida Advanced
Manufacturing Research Center.
