LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® is an internationally-renowned
facilitated process used globally by management consultants.
The methodology is based on extensive research and enables
participants to address complex issues in a fun and engaging
way. This training, designed specifically for coaches, is based
in LSP methodologies. It also utilizes numerous creative
techniques including art and play therapy, design thinking, and
creative problem solving. When clients make things in the real
world, it helps them to make connections in their minds.

Who should attend?
Anyone who wants to add powerful creative 3D processes to
their work, can be trained to apply this methodology to
implement the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® process and other
seriously fun and effective tools from the StrategicPlay® tool kit.
If you are a coach, (business, personal, or career), a social
worker, a child and youth worker, a counselor, a therapist, a
psychologist, an educator, a researcher, or a professional using
a coaching approach in your work, certification in this

This training day introduces you to the LEGO® SERIOUS
PLAY® methodology and materials. You will learn how to
use the tools within a setting including flow theory, the use
of ground rules to set the playing field, etiquette, and traps
to avoid along with numerous applications for different
situations to prep the hand-brain connection. Background
theory is provided with hands-on learning.
The second day moves participants thorough processes
where the clients’ individual identity is explored and
insights are gained. You will discover how the tool can be
customized for any number of coaching applications
including self assessments. You will experience and play
with a full creative package that you can take back to offer
your clients.
The third day of the training will provide you with an
understanding of how to use LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® in
a systematic way to move your client toward outcomes and
action and how to address more challenging coaching
issues and presenting situations.

Foundation Program
On this day you will learn:
The introduction to the theory that rests behind the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methodology, including the history, research and
foundation drawn from the fields of business, organizational development, neuroscience, psychology, and learning.
A hands-on, practical overview of the framework of this methodology.
Introduction to the four core steps of the process:

Building and giving meaning
Telling and sharing the meaning
Reflecting and incubating on ideas and insights
Participate in the session with “two hats.” Experience the power of the methodology as a participant and a coach.
Techniques to ensure clients are engaged and in “flow” and to support clients as they experience different comfort levels during a
session.
Understand the role that the coach plays to move participants through the core four steps of the process for both individual modelbuilding and for creating landscapes.
Develop a vocabulary for the tool. Learn to avoid the traps when coaching and learn the etiquette needed to ensure the tool yields
maximum success.

Second Day: Coaching
In addition to knowledge gained during the Foundation Program, you will:

Learn how to apply the process to an individual or group coaching practice
•
Learn how models are built that illustrate 3D complex identities and how to coach your clients within this process
•
Learn the basics of this application that can enhance your existing coaching skills or process and content
•
Understand the 3D thinking and modeling and how to create powerful coaching questions to enhance complex thinking in
clients
•
Receive a detailed learning guide providing step-by-step instructions for presenting challenges and then debriefing through
facilitated discussions
•
Apply the process needed to facilitate deep level conversations where participants have a greater understanding about
themselves and their goals

Learn how to use 3D tools and creative materials kit to understand your clients passions, values, beliefs, and assumptions

Identify ways of capturing information to provide feedback to clients and plan your next session
•
Begin to create and customize your own applications for the benefit of your clients.
Third Day: Advanced Coaching
In addition to knowledge gained during day one and two, you will:
•
Learn to manage more difficult coaching issues like resistance, negative self talk, and self-fulfilling prophesies
•
Learn when to switch to another modality and back again within the creative tool chest
•
Learn when and where this tool is most effective and when not to use this process
•
Create internal and external models that illustrate 3D complex identities
•
Learn the basics to develop a specific application that can enhance your existing skills or process and content
•
Receive a detailed learning guide providing step-by-step instructions for presenting challenges and then debrief through
facilitated discussions
•
Learn how to add other tools you might already have such as psychometrics, game-storming, and creative problem solving
into the tool kit to create an advanced practice application
•
Begin to create your own applications for the benefit of your specific client group
•
Walk away with roadmaps for multiple sessions that you can apply as a set or use separately as stand alones with your other
offerings.
