A new Security Feature?
To help combat the ever increasing security threats materializing in the “cloud”, an extra security
feature has been added to the “Submit Maintenance Service Request” page to help keep your MA
CMMS experience top notch. The new security feature added to the “Submit Maintenance Service
Request” page is a CAPTCHA located at the bottom of the form. The CAPTCHA is enabled by default for
every MA user. However the CAPTCHA can be disabled by any user with administrative permissions (see
“How to Remove the CAPTCHA” below).
Example: CAPTCHA
What is a CAPTCHA?
A CAPTCHA is a case sensitive alphanumeric code that is used to determine whether or not a user’s
input is human or robot. “CAPTCHA” is an acronym that stands for “Completely Automated Public
Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart”.
What is the Benefit of a CAPTCHA on my Guest Maintenance Service Request Page?
A CAPTCHA helps prevent malicious robots from creating a myriad of guest maintenance requests on
your CMMS. This could potentially prevent robots from logging 1000’s of guest work request on your
CMMS.
How does it Work?
When a guest user creates a maintenance service request from the login page the guest will be required
to fill out the CAPTCHA field to submit a service request.
NOTE: The CAPTCHA is case sensitive and needs to be inputted correctly to successfully submit a
maintenance service request.
Example Submit Maintenance Service Request:
Fill out all fields
Add the CAPTCHA to the text field
>OK
Can I Remove the CAPTCHA?
The CAPTCHA is an optional security feature. If a user with administrative permissions deems this
feature unnecessary the CAPTCHA can be turned off by going to the “Settings” tab.
How to Remove the CAPTCHA:
Select:
Settings >Cmms Settings >Security
Disable the “Enable captcha on guest requests” button
>Save
When the CAPTCHA feature is disabled, the “Submit Maintenance Service Request” page will not require
any additional steps other than entering data into the fields and selecting OK.
Example:
Enable or Disable the CAPTCHA at Your Own Discretion
The Maintenance Assistant team has allowed users the option to enable or disable the CAPTCHA
security feature. It is important to note that this security feature was added to help retain a high level of
MA user satisfaction. Enabling this feature could very well help prevent unwanted headaches moving
forward.
