2017/2018 CFD Teaching Enhancement Grant Request for Proposals Purpose CU Denver Center for Faculty Development (CFD) Teaching Enhancement Grants support projects that seek to develop innovations in teaching or enhance a faculty members pedagogical practice. Award Size Funding Limit: up to $3,000 Funding Priorities and Supported Expenditures We are hoping to fund projects that: Develop modes of teaching that are learner-centered; or Promote diversity and inclusive practices in the classroom; or Enhance the use of high impact practices; or Seek to develop digital pedagogies; or Undertake scholarly activity focused on teaching and learning in higher education; or Seek to develop innovative course-based or program level assessment. Funded activities include: attending or presenting at a teaching/learning conference, workshop, or shortcourse (non-credit), inviting outside expert to give a lecture or workshop related to teaching/learning, hiring a research assistant for a teaching/learning project, material costs related to teaching, or course development focused on funding priorities (course development payable as PD funds only). Timeline Please Note: All activities funded by this grant must be carried out between July 1, 2017 and June 1, 2018. Priority is given to faculty members who did not receive CFD Teaching Enhancement Grant funds in the previous funding cycle. Proposal Format Complete cover page provided with required signatures Project Narrative (e.g. description, assessment plan, plan to share knowledge) (< 5 pages) Budget CV (not more than 3 pages) 12-point font 1 inch margins 10-page limit (including cover page and CV) Proposal Evaluation Proposals will be evaluated by a team of faculty appointed by the CFD. The committee will evaluate each proposal based on the following categories: (1) innovation; (2) grounded in scholarly literature of teaching and learning; (3) funding priorities; (4) professional development; (5) assessment plan; (6) plan to share knowledge (7) request rationale; (8) format; (9) budget; and (10) overall quality. Reporting and Responsibilities Awardees will document their projects, collect information about outcomes, submit a final report by June 30, 2018, and be willing to share materials developed. Awardees will share their work at a CFD event. Additionally, awardees will be asked to serve on a subsequent review panel to be eligible for future competitions.
