Chesley landfill is open on the 2nd & 4th Saturday of each month. Arran landfill is open Thursdays 8-3pm & Saturdays 8-12pm weekly. Paisley compost area behind the cemetery is open daily every day. Council meets on the 2nd & 4th Monday of the month; unless notified otherwise. Submissions for the newsletter are accepted for non-profit organizations within the Municipality or organizations using Municipal facilities only. TAXES Interim Tax installments are due March 27th & June 26th. Final Tax installments are due August 28th & October 28th, 2015. For any address changes please call MPAC at 1-866-296-6722 and email the office at [email protected] You must contact MPAC for name changes on property files as they cannot be done through the Municipal Office. WATERMAIN FLUSHING Flushing will take place in Paisley, Tara, and Chesley throughout the month of May and into the first week of June. Please check water color before doing laundry. After Hours Emergencies: After hours road emergencies can be reported to 519-373-9781. Additional numbers: 519-270-0446 & 519-3739780. GOODS EXCHANGE DAY – May 23rd. Place your items at the edge of your driveway or lawn, & tie a plastic bag to the item to indicate it’s a goods exchange item. The Municipality will not assume responsibility for lost or removed items. After hours water and sewer emergencies can be reported to Pager #519-374-2804 and/or 519-363-3039. Follow the prompts and you will receive a call back asap. Please keep all public roads clear of mud, manure and debris. Vehicle operators who deposit mud on the road are potentially liable for a range of offences as per the Highways Act. Highways Act 1980 Section 137 “If a person, without lawful authority or excuse, in any way willfully obstructs the free passage along a highway he is guilty of an offence”. Highways Act 1980 Section 148 “If without lawful authority or excuse a person deposits anything whatsoever on a highway to the interruption of any user of the highway he is guilty of an offence”. Do everything possible to prevent mud being deposited on the road. This includes cleaning mud from vehicles, as far as practicable, before they are taken onto the road. The fact that cleaning mud off tractors and attachments is commercially inconvenient may not be a defense in law. FIRE PERMITS Fire permits are free, and must be obtained YEARLY. They are available at the Municipal Office or can be downloaded from our website. By obtaining a fire permit you have simply indicated that you wish to burn. FIRE BANS The Municipality of Arran‐Elderslie may be required to issue a ban on all open air fires within the Municipality when necessary. Please consult our website at www.arranelderslie to stay updated on such bans/updates. The hot, dry conditions allow fires to spread faster than normal and can result in very dangerous situations developing. When a ban is in effect it applies to all agricultural burns, campfires and recreational fires and remains in place until notification. ALL FIRE PERMITS ISSUED ARE VOID UNTIL BANS ARE LIFTED. On Line Payments: Tax Bills: If you are paying your tax bill online be sure you are using your correct roll number(s) to ensure your payment gets allocated to the proper account. All tax bills/account numbers start with the numbers 4103. Your water account number is found on the top of your invoice and is NOT your roll number. _______________________________ Cheryl Roberts/Animal Control Officer will be canvassing the Municipality for those who have not acquired their dog tags as of yet. The fee is $25 per dog. GARBAGE Routes are subject to change without notice! HAVE BAGS AT CURBSIDE BY 7AM TO ENSURE PICKUP. Please dispose of needles and sharp items safely, not loose in garbage bags. Two bags of household garbage will be picked up weekly. Additional bag tags may be purchased at the Municipal Office, Chesley Convenience, Tara General, and Paisley Freshmart for $3/each. RECYCLING Please have your recycling to the curbside by 7am. All mixed recycling has to be in a blue box. Any additional recycling not in a blue box will be picked up if it has been sorted into separate containers only
