VolleyballCourtsinShurmerGymandtheWRECwillbeutilizedforthisleague.InShurmer
GymCourt1isthecourtclosesttothegym’smainentrance.Court2isthemiddlecourtand
Court3isthecourtfarthestfromthemainentrance.IntheWRECthecourtnearesttheMAC
Courtwillbeutilized.

PLAYERS
A. Gamesareplayedwithsixplayersonthecourt.
B. Rostersizeisunlimited;pleasenotethatonlydoubletheamountofplayersonthefield
willbeawardedIntramuralChampiont-shirts.
C. Teamsmusthavethreeplayerstostartamatch.Ifateamhaslessthanthreeplayersitwill
forfeitthematch.
D. TheCo-EdDivisionisplayedwiththreemenandthreewomenonthecourt.Ifateamplays
shorthanded,theymusthavemorefemalethanmaleplayersonthecourt.Ifthisratiois
notmet,itisanautomaticforfeit.Howeverhavingmorefemalesonthefloorthanmalesis
notpenalized.
EQUIPMENT
Courtshoesonly.Teammembersmustallwearthesamecoloredjerseys.Ballswillbe
providedbyRec.Sports.
TIME/GAMEPLAY
A. Matchesare50minutesinlengthincludingwarm-up.Whicheverteamisaheadatthe50minutemarkisdeclaredthewinner.
B. Matchesarethebestofthreegames.Allgamesarerallyscoring.Thefirsttwogamesare
playedto25(nowinbytworule).Thethirdgame,ifneeded,isto15ateammustwinby
two.Atthe50-minutemark,duringthethirdgame,theteamaheadisdeclaredthewinner.
C. Coinflipwilldetermineservingteaminfirstandthirdgames.Secondgameserveristhe
teamthatreceivedforthefirstgame.
D. Iftheballhitsthenetonaserveandmakesitintotheopposition’ssideofthenet,playis
live.
E. Gameplaydependsonteamscallingtheirownruleviolations.Playersareexpectedtocall
theirownpersonal/teamfaults(nets,lifts,etc.)andnotthoseoftheopposingteam.Ifyou
thinktheopposingteamhascommittedafaulty,continueplayinguntiltheballisoutof
play.Thentheteamcaptainshoulddiscusstheperceivedfaultwiththeotherteam’s
captain.Ifthecaptain’scannotagree,replaythepoint.Continualfailuretomakecallsis
causeforinterventionbythesportsupervisor.Thesupervisorwillmakerecommendations
onpropergamesmanshiptofosterfairplay;failuretofollowthisprotocolmayleadto
disqualification.
F. Theheightofthenetwillbechangedtocorrespondwitheachleague.Gameplayshallbe
stoppedimmediatelywhenaballfromanearbycourtentersyourcourt.Replaythepoint.
Pleasemakeanefforttowornplayersofincomingballs.
G. Anyballcontactingtheceiling,lights,basketballstandards,walls,bleachers,oranyother
obstacleisanimmediatedeadball,resultinginapointtotheopposition.Ballsarenot
playedaftercontactwiththeseobjectsandpointsarenotplayedover.
H. Frontandbackrowhitterandblockerrulesareenforcedunlessyouareplayingwithfouror
lessplayers.
I. Itislegaltodeflecttheballwithyourfoot,blocktheballwithyourfoot,orevenkickittoa
teammateortotheothersideofthenet.
