 GUIDELINES 1. The Irons Prize is an annual award given to the best artwork that represents a theme. 2. The theme for 2016 is ONOMATOPOEIA. 3. Artwork must be in total the size of A4 (29.7cm x 21cm ) ( You may or may not include a frame but the total size (including frame) must be no more than A4 size)) 4. A maximum of 2 pieces only per artist. 5. An entry fee of $20 per piece is required together with a completed entry form. 6. Any artwork medium is accepted. 7. Artwork must be 2D. 8. Irons and Craig reserves the right to NOT hang any artwork entry. 9. Chosen artwork will be hung so please consider the weight of your artwork before submitting. 10. All artworks must be ready to hang with clips, wire, hooks etc. already attached. Any artwork not ready to hang will not be eligible for judging. The organisers will not attach hanging devices to artworks. 11. Artwork must arrive at the gallery by Thursday 16th June 5pm. 12. It is the artist’s responsibility to pick up their artwork by 30th September 2016. a. Any artwork not picked up by 30 September 2016 will become the property of Irons and Craig. 13. Public viewing of the artwork will be at Irons and Craig from Saturday 18th June until 1st August 2016. 14. Judging will take place in two stages. 15. Stage one will take place after 5pm on Thursday 16th June. Finalists will be shortlisted and determined to be the best/most appropriate works for display and to enter into Stage Two. 16. Stage Two ­ finalist judging ­ will be held on Saturday 18th June. Please note, acceptance of your entry does not mean an automatic entry into Stage two. 17. Awards: There are two awards given in 2016 a. The main award is $1750 given to the artist which best represents a theme b. An award of $250 is given for the People’s Choice. c. People’s Choice will be decided by a popular ballot and will be awarded on 1st August at the close of the exhibition. 18. Exhibition of artwork will begin on Saturday 18th June and close on 1st August. 19. The Irons Prize is a project of Irons and Craig. All rights reserved. 20. The organisers reserve the right to not award the prize. In the event that a suitable artwork is not submitted, the prize money will be allocated to the following year’s competition.
