Red Nose Day March17 - Thorn Grove Primary School

Dear Parents,
We are writing to inform you of an exciting opportunity which is fast approaching. As we are
sure you are aware, Red Nose Day is celebrated this year on March 24 th. This celebration is
held each year with a focus on raising money for those who are in need, both abroad and
within the UK. At Thorn Grove we pride ourselves on supporting worthy causes and this year
we aim to raise money for Red Nose Day by holding our own special event.
The event in question will be a talent show, more specifically: Thorn Grove’s Got Talent
(TGGT). Our aim is to celebrate the talents of all children by showcasing what they can do
and sharing it with the whole school.
This is how the competition will work. During the week beginning March 19th, each class
(Reception to year 6) will hold their own talent celebration. At the end of the ‘show’ each
person within the class will vote on who they believe is the most talented and as a result,
from each class, 2 acts will progress to the final which will be held on Friday March 24 th at
2pm.
The ‘class celebration’ will be held on either Monday or Tuesday of Red Nose Week as we
will be inviting parents of the acts voted through to the final to join us on Friday for the
Final.
On Friday March 24th children will be able to come in appropriate Red Nose attire and they
will be able to view the final; all we ask is for a £1 donation towards Red Nose Day.
Children should begin preparing their acts and ensure that they are ready to perform for the
beginning of the week. Each class teacher will ensure that their class knows when the class
celebration of talent will happen however it is up to the children to ensure that they have
practiced. Some ideas for possible acts are: play an instrument, perform a song, perform a
dance, juggle, tell a story, deliver a comedy routine, share some magic, share sporting skills
– the list is exhaustive.
If you have any questions please speak to your child’s class teacher and let’s start a
wonderful journey to share the talent we have at our school.
Thank you for your support.
