Game Preview:
The Jaguars advanced to the 2nd round of the state playoffs, where
they will matchup for the first time ever against the No. 2 seed from
Region 2 Foley Lions. This is the 8th straight year that Foley has made
the playoffs, and their overall 2nd round playoff record is 1-6. Spain
Park comes in with a 3-1 overall record in 2nd round playoff
appearances. The home to greats such as Julio Jones and Kenny
Stabler, Foley once again has a big talent in Alabama commitment,
Darius Page. Page (#21) is a 6’3” defensive tackle. Second round
playoff games always provides great matchups, and the battle
between the Jags and Lions as both looks to continue their great
seasons by playing during the Thanksgiving holiday season.
LAST TIME OUT FOR SPAIN PARK
Spain Park jumped out to a quick lead in
the first round matchup with Central Phenix
City leading to a convincing 43-13 victory.
Otis Harris and Jontez Turner combined for
five of the Jags six rushing touchdowns.
Rushing attack totaled 171 yards on the
ground to support Nick Mullens 328 passing yards. The defense held an athletic
Central team to only 200 yards rushing.
The Jags were led in tackles by Je’Niah
Jackson (9), Jacob Wolkow (8), and Zac
Newton (7). Defensive lineman Devin
Pughsley had 2 sacks and 6 tackles.
Last Time out for Foley:
Foley came out with a 30-28 victory last week as
Baker missed a last second field goal to seal the
win for the Lions. Cedrix Reed led the Lions
with 151 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns.
Foley had a 21-7 lead at halftime, but Baker
fought back to take the lead 28-27 late in the
fourth quarter. Foley drove made a 26 yard field
goal with 1:18 left in the game. Baker set itself
up for a 38 yard game winning field goal with :10
left, but the attempt his the left goal post.
SPAIN PARK HEACH COACH SPOTLIGHT: CHIP LINDSEY
Coach Lindsey was born on September 9, 1974 in Florence Alabama. He
was exposed to athletics early in his life by his father who played football
in college and was a player for the Cincinnati Bengals organization, and
later became a high school and college coach in baseball and football.
Coach Lindsey was a standout at Bob Jones High School in Madison, Alabama where he lettered for 3 years in basketball, baseball, and football.
Although signing a baseball scholarship out of high school, he chose to
play football where he lettered in 1992 at the University of North Alabama
as a wide receiver. Coach Lindsey is a 1997 graduate of the University of
Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and English. He earned
a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership in 2005 from the University of
Phoenix. He is married to Cecily Pharr Lindsey of Sheffield, Alabama and
they have four children, Claire 7, Cooper 5, Caroline 5, and Conner 4.

SPAIN PARK OFFENSIVE NOTES

The key going into the second round matchup
with up front in the trenches. Foley brings in the most physical and biggest defensive line the Jags have faced all year.
The offensive line has made huge improvements all year, and
overcoming injuries along the way.

Nick Mullens reached the 3000 yard mark last week, and now
has 3102 yards total passing yards.

The Foley defense is led by (#21) Darius Paige who is committed to Alabama.
SPAIN PARK DEFENSIVE NOTES
 Foley is led by their rushing attack that showcases (#20) Cedrix Reed and (#22) Isaiah Lewis. Reed rushed for
over 150 yards last week in the win over Baker.

The Jags defense may have had its best night of the season
last week as they gave up less than 300 total yards. They will
need build on that as they face the Lions this week.

The Jags had a season high 6 sacks last week led by Devin
Pughsley.
