Executive Summary
The Quality Strategy 2015-2018 builds on work undertaken for the Quality Strategy 2013-15.
The Quality Strategy has been influenced and informed by recent significant changes to both the regulatory
environment and the Trust’s own infrastructure.
The regulatory requirements in terms of the Care Quality Commission (CQC) have changed. CQC has revised the
way in which hospital inspections are carried out .These are carried out and their focus is on their defined 5
domains of quality which are:

Safe

Effective

Caring

Responsive

Well-led
The 2015-18 Quality Strategy sets out clearly defined quality goals under the 5 CQC domains, and the key
outcomes for each domain (pages 7, 8 and 9).
The Quality Strategy makes reference to the medium and long-term priorities of the organisation as well as
making clear its short term priorities as set out in the Quality Account ( Appendix 1)
It also describes the governance processes and explains how quality will be monitored, which is through the
Quality, Experience and Safety Programme Operational (QESP) Group, and ultimately up to the Quality & Clinical
Governance Committee for assurance.
The Quality Strategy is an integral part of a dynamic healthcare organisation and leads quality improvement. It is
through the delivery of the Quality Strategy that the Trust will embed a culture of continuous improvement,
innovation and the delivery of high quality care.
