WHAT A GREAT EFFORT FROM THE ZONE’S SWIMMERS AT CHAMPIONSHIPS
TECHNICAL OFFICIALS
For the second year in succession Riverina provided 2 of the 8 Referees at Country Championships which is significant given
that there are 12 Areas to choose Referees from. Felicity Palmer was recommended for Level 2 pathway after a 5 hour first
session of the Meet. Felicity joins Kayleen Murphy as an eligible candidate for Level 2 status.
Continuous attention to training and performance will see the standard of officiating in the Riverina remain at a suitably high
level.
RESULTS
It is clear that the standard of Riverina swimming is now at the highest level in many years.
The Championship results below provide clear evidence. Wagga club finished 13 th on the Country Championship point score.
The challenge now is to continue the improvement and continue to cater for all swimmers.

NSW OPEN CHAMPIONSHIPS
Tim Murphy –
BROPHY TEAM – Target this year is 850 points
The Selectors are looking for the fastest swimmers in each age to be given first option to be a member of the team.
There are some Meet restrictions as to National Age qualifiers and State medallists.
Some swimmers may only be selected for a couple of strokes, but their great contributions in relays add value to the team
performance as was evident last year.
Special Purple souvenir caps with Brophy and Riverina in white will be worn by the team. The cost will be $10 per cap and
they will be quite distinctive in the pool. The team will continue to wear the SISA shirt. Details have been provided to clubs by
Marrie on how to purchase these items.
Parents of swimmers who become not available should advise Marrie Mott (Griffith) [email protected] as soon
as possible.
Officials who wish to nominate for Brophy Meet should also advise Marrie as soon as possible.

SWIM MEETS
“Swimmers 8 years and under will receive RULE CONSIDERATION (No Disqualifications) at Riverina Zone Meets.”
2016-17 Matters for consideration by Clubs

SISA Committee nominations. Interested people should start thinking about nominating as there is need for
change.
 Review of programs for 2016-17 Meets.
SISA CHAMPIONSHIPS & SPEEDO HEATS 2017 – A Riverina club will be the host club. Clubs need to indicate their wish
to host the Meet.


Clubs could also consider the introduction of a point score in Riverina. Each Meet could take a form stroke or IM as
the point score event. Each year a Meet is nominated as the 50m point score Meet and another is nominated as the
100m point score Meet. It may then constitute a “championship”.
Please let us know of new ideas that clubs may wish to consider prior to our Annual Meeting.
