Functional specifications
No changes with respect to the version presented in Paris.
 SEY<1 for primary electron energy below 1 keV
 No dust particles larger than 25 µm, influence of multiple smaller
particles to be studied
 Outgassing rate: increase of a factor 100 after 10h of pumping is
considered acceptable
 Impedance: a factor ~2 increase is considered acceptable
 Exposure to radiation damage over the 15 year lifetime of the HLLHC
 Properties of LESS surface shall not be changed by mechanical
loads induced by magnet quenches

Summary
1. Procurement for the laser bench is finished.
2. Segmented COLDEX beam screen treatment is going
well.
3. First results obtained from the dummy sample are very
promising.
4. COLDEX installation previewed in March.
5. No changes in functional specifications BUT the test
campaign should be planned to study LESS properties
(outgassing, impedance, dust, irradiation, mechanical)
and to choose optimal laser parameters.
