WELCOME TO S3 HISTORY EXPECTATIONS? Willingness to learn Positive Attitude • UNIT 1: THE RISE OF HITLER Building on from S2, pupils will look at the importance of the Treaty of Versailles as a factor in the rise of Hitler in Germany. Pupils will develop an understanding of the consequences of Nazi ideology on various groups in Nazi Germany. Unit 2: Pupils will learn about the impact of political ideologies by studying the Cold War Pupils will explore the changing nature and role of governments over time and the impact of different political systems on a range of people and societies in Europe and Asia. The focus will be on significant events in the Cold War. Unit 3: Votes for Women, Why did it take so long? This unit will look at the Suffrage movement in Britain. Pupils will assess the factors that contributed to womens’ suffrage. Pupils will assess the impact of the Suffragette campaign on votes for women. Pupils will investigate the Scottish contribution to The Cause. Unit 4: Pupils will be given the opportunity to investigate a historical topic of their choice. Pupils will also choose how they present their findings ASSESSMENT Pupil will have some key tasks to complete and these will be assessed in line with BGE guidelines. There will be a variety of Assessment methods such as: • Report writing • Research based assessment • Talks • Group tasks • Posters • PowerPoints • Quizzes • End of unit assessments HOMEWORK • On occasion you will be asked to complete homework tasks. • You will be given plenty of notice for this • Notices will also appear on Google Classroom.
