Nairobi is the capital of
Kenya and the largest
city in the country. It has
a population of more
than 3 million. Situated
on the Nairobi River, the
city is not only the largest
and fastest growing city
in Kenya, but one of the
largest in Africa. The word
Nairobi derives from a
water hole known in
Maasai as ‘Enkare
Nyirobi’, which means
‘cool waters.’

Situated on the equator on Africa’s east coast,
Kenya has been described as ‘the cradle of
humanity’. In the Great Rift Valley
palaeontologists have discovered some of the
earliest evidence of man’s ancestors. Kenya
encompasses savannah, lakelands and
mountain highlands. It’s also home to wildlife
like lions, elephants and rhinos.
Also known as ‘The Bird Watchers’ Paradise’,
Lake Nukuru National Park lies on the floor of
the Great Rift Valley, surrounded by wooded
and bushy grassland. Visitors can enjoy the
wide ecological diversity and varied habitats
that range from Lake Nakuru itself to the
surrounding escarpment and picturesque
ridges. Lake Nakuru National Park is ideal for
bird watching, hiking, picnic and game drives.

Crowned by Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, the
Amboseli National Park is one of Kenya’s most popular parks.
The name ‘Amboseli’ comes from a Maasai word meaning
‘salty dust’, and it is one of the best places in Africa to view
large herds of elephants up close. Nature lovers can explore
different habitats, ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake
Amboseli, wetlands with sulphur springs, the savannah and
woodlands. Visitors can also see the local Maasai
community who live around the park and experience their
authentic culture.
The Maasai Mara National Reserve is one of the most popular
tourism destinations in Kenya. The reserve is located in
the Great Rift Valley in primarily open grassland and is
regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing
areas.
