PMM reporting zero population skipped data points on SMS maps_WC

PMM reporting zero population “skipped data points” on SMS maps
Symptoms/Indications:
•
•
•
•
•
Average population on the planting map is slightly lower than actual target
population
The planting map will have red data points across the field.
The red data points represent a value of zero for a
o Seed Count map
o Plant Population map
The data point that follows the red data point will either be an average
point or double the average population
This will happen regardless of crop type or population.
Problem/Cause:
•
•
The cause: The PMM did not report the seed population data to the Ag
Leader display in the required time interval for the correct population to be
logged to the data point. However, the planter did plant properly.
The PMM may become slowed down when used with “Slow” seed tube
sensors (4800 baud rate sensors with a black connector on the harness). The
issue is more likely to be expressed with planters larger than 16 rows and
using the “Slow” seed tube sensors.
Solution:
•
If the user is looking at the planting data in AgLeader’s SMS software.
The data can fixed to a certain point
o Option 1 – If there are not a lot of points that have zero. The
user could change their filter settings to remove the low settings.
That will help their average population if it’s showing low, but
keep in mind will change their planting acres. It depends on how
many points have zero and how many are planning to be removed.
o Option 2 – If there are a lot of points that have the zero. The
user could add a Simple Analysis (right-click on Product or under
Batch Command) and use the Reassign Values tool where they can
change all of the zero values to the average population. It will not
be exact, but it will be better than scaling the data since most of the
other points are good. It depends on how many zero points the
user has.
