THE MATCH-UP: The Marist football team, in its fifth year as a
member of the Pioneer Football League, plays Georgetown of the
Patriot League. It is the second of three straight road games for the
Red Foxes, and third straight night game. Kickoff is set for 6:05 p.m.
HOW TO FOLLOW US: Ed Weir (play-by-play) and Mike Ferraro
(color) will provide the call on 1450 AM WKIP in Poughkeepsie. The
pregame show will begin at 5:45 p.m. EDT. The game can also be
listened to for free on GoRedFoxes.com and the iHeartRadio app.
For live game updates, check the official Twitter account of Marist
Athletics (@MaristAthletics).
LONGEST-RUNNING RIVAL ON THE SCHEDULE: This is the 16th
all-time meeting between Marist and Georgetown, the highest total
of any opponent on the Red Foxes’ 2013 schedule.
ABOUT GEORGETOWN: The Hoyas enter tonight’s game at 1-1.
After falling to Wagner in its season opener, Georgetown defeated
PFL opponent Davidson in its home opener last week. The Hoyas
were picked to finish fifth out of six teams in the Patriot League’s
preseason poll. Linebacker Dustin Wharton was named the
league’s Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, and he was joined
on the Preseason All-League team by offensive lineman James
Spaly and defensive end Sean Campbell.
MEET THE CAPTAINS: Marist has four captains on this year’s
team. Three are on defense - linebacker Paul Sakowski, safety
Nick Kaszei and safety Tyler Ramsey. The Red Foxes’ lone captain
on offense is quarterback Chuckie Looney for the second straight
year. Ramsey and Looney are both in their second year as captains,
with Ramsey being a fifth-year senior, and Looney being just the
second junior in Head Coach Jim Parady’s tenure to be named a
captain last season.
A MARIST WIN TODAY WOULD ... :
- be its first on the road against a Patriot League opponent in program history.
- prevent the team’s first 0-3 start since 2007.

Head Coach Jim Parady
22nd Season
Career Record: 107-112-1
Maine/1983
Jim Parady, who has guided the Marist football program through over two decades of growth, is in his
22nd season as the program’s head coach and 23rd
overall with the Red Foxes.
Entering the 2013 season with 107 victories, Parady
is the winningest coach in program history. He has
made Marist a force to be reckoned with at the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS), formerly known
as I-AA, level. During his tenure, Parady has coached
conference championship teams and has had student-athletes excel both on and off of the playing field.
The Red Foxes have made the jump from Division III
to FCS status, moved into a newly-renovated stadium, won three league championships and joined
the Pioneer Football League on Parady’s watch. The
Red Foxes won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference
Football League championship in 1994, 2006 and
2007. Parady also coaches the team’s quarterbacks.
The 2012 season was one of the most historic in program history, particularly on the offensive side of the
ball. Wide receiver Michael Rios set the program’s career record for touchdown receptions, the single-season program records for receiving yards and receiving
touchdowns, and the single-game record for receiving
yards. He became the first player in program history to sign an NFL contract when he signed a rookie
free-agent contract with the Arizona Cardinals. Marist
also had its second-highest total of passing yards in
program history, and second-highest total of rushing
yards in the last 10 seasons. The Red Foxes also had
their longest play from scrimmage in program history,
and tied their longest run from scrimmage. Additionally, Marist was number one in the FCS ranks in Red
Zone Defense.
A native of Nashua, N.H., Parady attended the University of Maine, earning a bachelor’s degree in
education in 1983. He was a four-year member of the
football team as a quarterback and earned two varsity
letters during his career.
Parady and his wife, Kristen, reside in Poughkeepsie
with their two children, Sarah Jane and Brett Kenneth.
Sarah is a freshman manager for the Marist football
team.

HISTORY WITH GEORGETOWN:
This is the 16th meeting between
Marist and Georgetown. The schools
met for nine consecutive years between 1994-2002, and six straight
years from 2006-11. Seven of the last
eight meetings have been decided
by a touchdown or less. In the 1990s,
both schools were members of the
MAAC Football League.
AERIAL ATTACK: Senior QB Chuckie Looney has thrown 93 passes
in Marist’s first two games. The 49
passes thrown by Looney against
Sacred Heart in the season opener
was the second-highest single-game
total in program history, and the 44
passes he threw against Bucknell was
the third-highest single-game total. His
25 completions against Sacred Heart
were tied for the third-highest singlegame total in program history.
NEW RECORD HOLDER: With two
touchdown passes against Sacred
Heart, senior QB Chuckie Looney became Marist’s career record holder for
touchdown passes, and now has 33 in
his career. The previous record holder
was James Luft at 29. Last year, Looney set Marist’s single-season record
for touchdown passes with 18.
SPREADING THE TARGETS ... : So
far this season, 10 different Marist
receivers have caught a pass.
... BUT NOT THE TOUCHDOWNS:
Senior WR Armani Martin has caught
all four of Chuckie Looney’s touchdown passes this season, with two
apiece against Sacred Heart and
Bucknell. Martin leads the PFL in
scoring, and is tied for fifth in the FCS
ranks entering this week.
SIGNA EARNS CFPA HONOR: Senior P Jesse Signa earned a College
Football Performance Award following
his 45.7 yard average on six punts at
Bucknell. Signa had five punts of 45
yards or more and downed two inside
the 20, including a 52-yard punt that
went out at the Bucknell one.
RUSHING NUMBERS: Through two
games, Marist is being outrushed 41147. The Red Foxes are averaging 1.0
yards per carry, and have lost 68 yards
on 10 sacks.
STARTING POSITION: Of the 28
offensive drives Marist has had so far
this season, 22 have started inside the
Red Foxes’ own 30-yard line. In the
first half in each of Marist’s first two
games, Marist has started all of 11 of
its drives inside its own 30.
TURNOVER TROUBLE: Marist is
minus-5 in turnover ratio this season.
The Red Foxes have not forced a
turnover through two games, and have
had two interceptions and three lost
fumbles.
LEADING TACKLER: Senior FS Nick
Kaszei leads Marist with 23 tackles through two games this season.
Kaszei had a career-high 15 tackles
against Sacred Heart. The last time a
Red Fox had more than 15 tackles in
game came in 2010, when Rory Foley
had 16 against Morehead State.
NEED TO START FAST, IN GAMES:
Through two games, Marist has not
scored in the first quarter, and has
been outscored cumulatively 57-21 in
the first, second and third quarters.
NEEDING TO START FAST, IN
SEASONS: The last time Marist had
a winning record on Oct. 1 was 2005.
In the eight seasons since, Marist is
7-26 in games played in August and
September.
SEASON OPENERS: With its loss
against Sacred Heart, Marist is now
16-20 in season openers since becoming a varsity program.
PROTECTING THE DEN: A goal for
the Marist football program this season
is to establish a distinct home-field advantage. Since the opening of Tenney
Stadium in 2007, Marist is just 11-21 at
home. The Red Foxes have also not
won a home opener since 2006. However, Marist is 6-7 on the road since
the start of the 2011 season, including
a .500 mark (4-4) in PFL play.
NEW, BUT FAMILIAR FACES, ON
COACHING STAFF: This year’s
Marist football coaching staff has five
new members, but all are familiar faces. RB coach Jake Dembow started
all 44 games of his career on Marist’s
offensive line from 2005-08, and
played professionally in Europe after
graduation. TE coach Pete Mahoney
is in his third stint with the program,
and sixth season as coach. Director
of Operations Darius Hill played the
last two seasons for the Red Foxes
at linebacker. Former players Joe
Candarelli and A.J. Borriello, both of
whom are seniors at Marist, are serving as student assistants.
RIOS MAKES HISTORY: Michael
Rios made program history in April
when he became the first player in
program history to sign an NFL contract, when he signed a rookie freeagent deal with the Arizona Cardinals
following the NFL draft. It capped a
historical year for Rios, who last season set the program’s all-time record
for touchdown receptions, the singleseason records for receiving yards
and touchdowns and the single-game
record for receiving yards.
RED REALLY MEANS STOP: Marist
led the FCS ranks in Red Zone Defense last year, allowing the opposition
to score on just 23 of its 40 trips inside
the Marist 20-yard line.
