It was great to have so many entries last year from first timers and ‘old timers’ alike
and you beat all records with over 2700 entries! We hope that even if you weren’t
awarded a prize, you found the experience rewarding and will enter again this year.
The feedback was very positive and we thank you for that as we endeavour to
improve the experience year on year.

This year, there are a number of changes to look out for. Among them, increasing the
size of the cushions in this very popular class and the removal of the size restriction
in the upcycling categories, but please don’t turn up with a re-purposed wardrobe or
we might be in trouble!
There are some small Bakewell tarts to have a try with, we’ve changed the plum loaf
to a fruit loaf to make finding a recipe easier and added some chocolate brownies.
Some of the handicraft classes have been reworked to reflect current trends and new
ones include: a garment knitted in arran type wool; soft toy; bag; and one we’re quite
excited about – a machine or hand-stitched garment.
Being very popular last year, the glass trophies awarded to the children will continue
this year and the children’s handwriting classes will move to a bronze, silver, gold
award system with one platinum award for the best overall entry.
So, now is the time to begin planning, painting, planting, growing, stitching,
jamming (and chutneying), photographing, knitting, sewing and all the other
amazing things that folks round here get up to when they produce, bake and create.
With that, good luck and we look forward to seeing you in July.
