The International Economics Department of the Donetsk
National University (Vinnytsia) offers a joint Master’s Degree
in International Economic cooperation. The program offers
a rigorous combination of theoretical, empirical, and policyoriented courses in economics, political economy, and policymaking focused on international economic cooperation in
business, governmental and educational areas.
It prepares students to analyze the most important issues
in today’s global economy, including the macro- and microeconomic causes and consequences of trade and financial
liberalization, exchange rate fluctuations, and capital-markets
integration. The objective is to gain an in-depth understanding of the market, political, and other forces that have driven
the economic globalization process, as well as the private and
public actors and institutions shaping international economic
cooperation developments and policies.
During their course of study, students will learn how to
use the state-of-the-art econometric-and-statistical software
commonly used in applied economics research and policy
analysis. The program culminates with a capstone experience
in which students apply their knowledge to complete a Master’s project addressing a major issue in contemporary international economics.
The coursework in theory, policy and research methods,
as well as the capstone experience, are designed to prepare
students for careers in government agencies, industry associations, financial institutions, multinational corporations,
economic consulting firms, multilateral institutions, and nongovernmental organizations – whether in Ukraine or abroad.
The Master’s degree program in International Economic Cooperation offers students:
• Concentrated faculty strength in international economics
and a policy-oriented curriculum;
• Faculty with linkages to research institutes and international organizations in Ukraine and around the globe;
• Training in state-of-the-art statistical software commonly
used in applied economics research;
• Vinnytsia is the most rapidly growing region of Ukraine,
location that provides access to an extraordinary array of
professional opportunities for trained economists.
Most graduate level courses are offered on distance base
and the master’s degree can be completed in either full-time
or part-time status.
Applicants must hold an accredited bachelor’s degree with
a cumulative grade point average of at least B+ (3.30 or higher on a 4.00 scale).
Admission is based on the internal professional exam and
exam in English. Also for non-native English speakers are appropriate to submit the results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language
Testing System (IELTS).
Сontacts Degree requirements are 90 credits of approved graduate coursework, including 9 credits in cycle of humanitarian and social-and-economic disciplines, 11 credits in cycle
mathematical and natural-science training economic theory,
36 credits in international economic theory and international
trade and investment policy, 6 credit hours in research methodology, 12 elective credits, and a 16 credits capstone experience Degree requirements.
Most of the International Economics Department’s Master’s program students finance their studies at Donetsk National University by drawing on their savings, taking out
loans, and/or working to support their graduate studies. All
courses for the Master’s program in International Economic
Cooperation program are offered on the distance base, so
students can economize on their travel and housing expenses.
International Economics Department has good reputation and strong position on the job market for international
economists in Ukraine. Among employers of the International Economics Department graduates there are:
• biggest Ukrainian companies such as the Metinvest holding, the DTEC, the Novokramatorsky machine-building
plant;
• top Ukrainian banks such as the First Ukrainian International Bank, the Unicredit bank etc.;
• major retailers such as Auchan, Epicenter, Metro;
• Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Ukraine;
• Kyiv National Economic University, Mariupol State University, Priazovsky State Technical University (Mariupol),
Kazan State University (Russian Federation), South-Federal State University (Russia Federation);
• the Ukrainian central and regional government, nongovernmental organizations, consulting firms, and research organizations that hire international economics
students
Most of these organizations post job opportunities on
their web sites. Some of these institutions reimburse tuition
expense for students who attend Donetsk National University part time. While you earn money to support your studies, you also gain valuable experience and strengthen your
resume. Donetsk National University also hires its own students in offices, the library, and computer labs. The most
successful in studying and researches students can accept
grants from Ukrainian Government, Chamber of Industries
and Commerce and private foundations
International Economics Department also offers for all
students the opportunity to take doctorial course in Global
Economy and International Economic Relations and to defense the doctorial thesis and achieve the PhD in Global
Economy and International Economic Relations just in Donetsk National University where the Specialized Scientific
Council for PhD defenses exists.
