QMSU NETBALL LEAGUE RULES 2016/17 League Format Leagues will contain a maximum of 8 teams. Each team will play one game every Wednesday between 2:00-6:00pm each week. Match times will be confirmed for all fixtures prior to the start of the season. It is not possible to re-arrange or move fixtures Matches will consist of 4x10 minute quarters. There will be a 2 minute break between quarters and a 5 minutes break at half time. Teams will play each other once over the period of the league. Please note that there will be no fixtures during the QM Reading Week. Post-season play-offs will take place once the league has finished to determine final standings. Points will be awarded as follows: Win = 3 points, Draw= 1 point, Loss = 0 points. League positions will be determined by points scored. If points totals are level league positions will be decided by game points difference. Walkovers If a team does not show up for a fixture they will concede a 10-0 walkover loss to the other team. Teams who fail to show up on three occasions will be removed from the league without refund. Teams not ready to commence their first fixture by 10 minutes after the allocated start time will concede a 10-0 walkover. All walkovers conceded will incur a one point deduction per fixture. Player Registrations All players must be registered to play for a team. Teams may initially register up to 10 players although players may be added to the registration list if agreed in advance with the Sport Participation Manager. All players must be QMUL Students, Staff or Alumni. Up to 10 players are allowed to play in each fixture (7 on court at any one time). Unlimited substitutions are allowed. Teams must have at least 5 players to start a fixture. Team captains must sign a league Code of Conduct form on behalf of their team. Any breach of this Code of Conduct may result in sanctions being imposed on the offending player or team. Sanctions will be determined by the Sport Participation Manager on a case by case basis. Equipment & Kit All equipment will be provided for the leagues including player bibs. Teams are permitted to wear their own kit if there wish to. In the event of a clash of kit colours bibs will be provided by the staff member present. Teams should ensure that all players wear the same colour kit for their fixtures. Players are responsible for making sure that they are not wearing any jewellery that could cause harm to themselves of other players. They must also ensure that finger nails are trimmed to an appropriate length to participate safely. Any breach of this guideline may result in them not being allowed to play. This decision will be down to the referee’s discretion. Referees and Foul Play Matches will be controlled by two umpires who will have full authority over enforcing the laws of the game. All players must respect the decision of the referee. Abuse and foul language directed towards referees will not be tolerated and instances may result in suspensions for players involved. Extreme cases of foul play may result in the referee removing the offending player from the match. Instances of extreme foul play resulting in dismissal must be reported to the Sport Participation Manager by the referee who may take further action if required. All rules will be in line with INF regulations which can be found at: http://www.netball.org/netball/the-rules-of-netball Appeals Any appeals or disciplinary issues must be raised with the league organiser by email ([email protected]) within 24 hours of the fixture being completed in order for them to be considered. QMSU SPORT LEAGUES CODE OF CONDUCT 2016/17 Team: Sport: Captain: QMSU Sport Leagues Code of Conduct All participants and teams in QMSU Sport Leagues must agree to the following conditions: To abide by the rules of the sport as stated in the League Rules Document. To uphold the name of QMSU, the university and the sport to a high standard To display and promote good conduct, sportsmanship and fair play at all times To not abuse any QMSU Sport Leagues equipment or facilities To treat other participants, team-mates, officials and members of staff with respect at all times To never engage in any insulting, offensive or abusive language or behaviour To always respect the decisions of the match officials To never put the safety and well-being of any other individual at risk while taking part in QMSU Sport Leagues Any transgression of this code of conduct will be dealt with using the following internal disciplinary procedure. It will be brought to the attention of the Sport Participation Manager who shall, depending on the severity of the transgression, either suspend the individual/team’s rights to take part in QMSU Sport Leagues for an agreed period of time or to remove the individual/team from the league all together.
