• improving essay feedback
• integration of feedback into student ePDP
2. Pharmacy Practice
• prescription (Rx) tutor
Pharmacy Practice 3
• the main competency based evaluation of dispensing
practice in MPharm
• basis of class is a series of exercises in dispensing
• limited opportunity for students to work through
appropriate examples and obtain one-to-one feedback
from staff
• students perceive class more difficult to pass than others
Pharmacy Practice 3
• final assessment - 3 hour examination where students
have to dispense 5 items accurately
• students start with 100%, marks deducted for errors
• students cannot gain marks during the examination
• making critical errors, such as dispensing an illegal
prescription or an overdose, scores very low marks/ fail
Script (Rx) Tutor
• an electronic, SPIDER based version of existing paper
based exercise
• instant marking
• personalised feedback
• pilot of 9 Rx
• accumulation/ history of errors to focus student
Script (Rx) Tutor - current status
• final year project students created Rx and errors for pilot
• basic system running on SPIDER
• piloted on current year 3 & 4 students
• collected feedback
Script (Rx) Tutor - plans
• modify system to allow input of additional Rx
• extend capabilities
• link to student ePDP & professional skills
• staff view class error histogram  react to class needs
• cater to other disciplines (custom error lists)
