Step One
–
From the Home page of your Canvas course, navigate to ‘Blackboard Collaborate’.
Step Two
Navigate to ‘Recordings’.

Step Three
Click the recording you would like to download, then under ‘Recording Conversions’,
select ‘Start Conversion’. The conversation may take some time.
NOTE: An MP3 file only contains audio, and the conversion will fail if your recording does not have any
audio. An MP4 file contains both audio and video. MP4 is the recommended file type to choose.
Step Four
Once your recording has converted, click ‘Play’

Step Five
Your recording will open. Click the ‘Download’ button on the top right to download your
recording onto your computer.
So now that you have your files, what’s next?
Option One: Stream or embed recordings in Canvas via NJVid.
As JMU faculty you have the option to store your recordings on the NJVid server. Once you
have moved your recordings to the NJVid server you have the option to link directly to the
videos on the server or to embed them in your Canvas courses. For more on NJVid, please visit
the support site here.
Option Two: Use Canvas to host your recordings.
As instructors in Canvas you also have the option to use Canvas files storage to hold and deliver
your recording in your Canvas courses. To learn more about this option please contact LET
