What is the Cost? Little Hornets & Kids’ Camp 2017 What is Little Hornets & Kids’ Camp? The programs are licensed summer enrichment programs. Little Hornets is for children who are potty trained and are 3-5 years of age. Kids’ Camp is for children who have completed Young 5’s through Fifth grade. Each classroom designs their program around the theme for the week. Themes will feature a wide range of activities including a weekly field trip (or on-site activity), arts & crafts, nature, science, dramatic play, stories, computer time and organized games. A non-refundable summer registration fee of $15 per child is due at registration. Tuition is $18.50 for half-day AM, $33.50 per day ($45.50 for field trip days) or $177.50 per week. A camp shirt is also purchased at the time of registration. Tuition is prepaid, two weeks in advance, every other Thursday. The weekly cost includes all field trips and activities. When Are Camp Sessions Scheduled? Summer Camp begins on Monday, June 12, 2017 and ends on Friday, August 18, 2017. Hours are 6:45 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with the main activities between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monthly Calendars will be provided. Little Hornets and Kids’ Camp are closed on Monday thru Friday, July 3-7 for building maintenance. How are the Programs Staffed? Registration forms will be available on May 15, 2017. You may pick up a form in the Kids’ Corner/Little Hornets Office or they will be available on our web site (www.gowcs.net – click on the parent tab). Registration is on-going until filled. Overseeing Little Hornets and Kids’ Camp is Lila Andrews, Director. Each program is staffed with a lead teacher, as well as qualified assistant teachers. Children are welcome to attend regardless of school district residency. Can My Child Attend Part-Time? Yes! There are no minimum days required! A child may attend a morning half-day or one to five days a week, in any week. This flexibility makes our programs perfect for families needing childcare or who would like summer enrichment for their children. Summer Safari We will be serving pizza and a drink on most Wednesdays. How Do I Register My Child? Who Can Attend? What Are the Themes for 2017? Week 1 June 12-16 *(Due to licensing restrictions, LH are unable to travel to Alto) Week 2 Please label everything with first and last names. June 19-23 Home Town Pride! Experience the Williamston Red Cedar Jubilee. On *Wednesday we will go to the library, then have lunch at the Lion’s Tent. On Thursday we will travel to Jumpin’ Jax in Lansing. Week 3 June 26-30 Good Old Summer Time! What Should My Child Bring? A drink and peanut-free lunch each day. A morning and afternoon snack is provided. Lunches must be labeled and dated. Their own water bottle – labeled. Sunscreen and insect repellant to be kept in their class rooms - labeled Extra change of under and outer clothes. CAMP SHIRTS, socks and comfortable shoes MUST be worn on ALL field trip days. Welcome to Camp! To start off our summer fun Kids Campers (k-5) will be visiting Boulder Ridge Animal Park in Alto, MI. Little Hornets will have a variety of on-site activities. For our summertime celebration we will take time to walk to McCormick Park for a picnic lunch and play time. Week 4 July 3-7 Closed for building maintenance. Week 5 July 10-14 Go Green! Go White! Week 9 Moovin’ & Groovin’ You won’t want to miss our trip To MSU planetarium and Dairy Store for an ice cream treat. We will also have a picnic lunch at Patriarch Park. Week 6 August 7-11 You won’t want to miss the fun this week of physical activity. On Thursday we will spend the afternoon tumbling around at Twistars! July 17-21 Having a Ball! Join us for a great time this week as we “Have a Ball”! On Thursday we will spend the afternoon bowling and eating pizza. Week 7 July 24-28 Week 10 August 14-18 Anything Goes! Don’t miss out on this last Week of camp where Anything goes. We will be walking to the Sun Theater on Wednesday to enjoy a movie (TBA). Little Hornets & Kids’ Camp 2017 Wet and Wild We will be going to the Hawk Island Splash Pad for some splashing fun. The splash pad is a zero depth water park with fifteen features to spray, splash & dump a blast of cool water. (Children must bring swimsuit & towel) Week 8 July 31-Aug 4 Blue Ribbon Days! This week we will spend an afternoon at the Ingham County Fair. We’ll see farm animals up close, check out the Blue Ribbons and enjoy some rides on the midway. On most Wednesdays the children will walk to the City of Williamston library. Swim Lessons offered by W. C. Pool. Ask for a flyer at registration. The last day of Kids’ Camp is Friday, August 18. Kids’ Camp will be closed the week of Aug 21-25 to prepare for the beginning of the school year.
