Basketball League Rules
Teams and Players

All divisions will play 5 on 5.
All players must where approved Boys & Girls Club jerseys.
Rosters can only be changed by the Athletic Director.
Players are not allowed to play on multiple teams.
All players will need to be rotated in and out of games in a way that allows for equal
playing time for all.
All players should “start” during the course of the season
1st-4th grade division will use 27.5” game ball, all other divisions will either use 29.5” or
28.5” game ball based upon gender.
8ft. Hoops at 1st/2nd grade, 9ft. Hoops at 3rd/4th grade, 10ft. Hoops at 5th-high school
Any rules not listed will follow normal OSAA guidelines. (may be modified for divisions)
Defense
1. Man-to-Man defense will be played at the 1st-6th grade levels.
2. Zone defense will be allowed at high school level beginning Week 3
3. No Back court defense. High school level will begin week 3 with full court press
available. *No back court defense with a 15pt or more lead.
4. Help side defense will be allowed.
Substitutions
1. Teams will make subsitutions at the 5 minute mark of each quarter. High School division
will be open substitutions on deadball situations.
2. There will be 1 minute allowed for subsitutions
3. Players will be lined up at halfcourt after subs come into game.

Scoring
1. No visible score in 1st-4th grade.
2. Baskets will count for 2 points or 3 points
3. Free Throws count as 1 point
Free Throws

Each free throw counts as 1 point
Teams will be rewarded free throws on shooting fouls starting at the 5 th/6th grade level
Teams will be rewarded bonus at 7 team fouls, 1-and-1 situation. (7th-high school)
Teams will be rewarded double-bonus at 10 team fouls. (7th-high school)
Three consecutive fouls will result in a two shot foul for 1 st-4th grade divisions.
Technical, Intentional and Flagrant Fouls/Ejections
1. Any player receiving a technical foul will be ejected from the remainder of the game.
2. All Technical/Flagrant Fouls will count as personal and team fouls.
3. Ejection upon fouls called Intentionally or Flagrant will be based upon the judgement of
the officials.
4. Coaches receiving a technical foul will be asked to leave the gym and be suspended for
the next game. *Any coach receiving two technical fouls throughout the course of the
season will be terminated as a volunteer.
5. All foul calls are judgement calls of the officials/athletic staff and will not be questioned.
Coaches
1. Coaches must stay inside the designated “Coaches Box”. Leaving the box may result in
technical foul or ejection.
2. One coach will be allowed on the court for the 1st/2nd grade level.
Time Factors

Halftime is 5 minutes
Warm up time will be a minimum of 5 minutes
Overtime games will be 3 minutes running clock, NO TIMEOUTS. Games will end in “Tie”
if there is no winner after overtime.
5. Clock will stop in the last two minutes if the game is within 10 points (7 th-High School)
6. Clock stops on Timeouts, Free Throws, and Substitutions

Time Outs
1. Each team is allowed one time out per half. (1st-8th)
2. Each team is allowed 3 timeouts per game. 2-Full and 1-30 second. (High School league).
*If you don’t use your 30 second timeout in the first half you lose it.
Wrist Bands
1. Wrist bands will be used at the 1st/2nd grade level to help players with their defensive
assignments. All other divisions will focus on the number they are guarding.
Officiating/Score Keeping
1. Head officials will be provided by the Boys & Girls Club.
2. Teams may be asked to provide score keeper/clock operator volunteers.
3. Any arguing with officials, use of profanity, or abusive behavior toward the other team,
coach(es), or spectator(s) will result in a one game suspension of the player(s), coach(es)
involved. *Further action may be taken by Athletic Director.
4. Officials are not to be approached or contacted in any manner.
