Not much to say about this weekend’s game due to it being cut short after Sherwood, who had started the
game with only 15 players, were struck down with injuries half way through the 2nd quarter. It has been
tradition that our two sides have fought out some very close contests and to have this game shortened was
disappointing but understandable and right.
Even though Sherwood only had 15 players to start with, they decided they still wanted to play and have a
go and in my view that typifies the character of the boys they have and it is a credit to them, their parents
and their club, that they are willing to play against all odds. Well done to them.
While it was a shame that we didn’t get to play out the game, there were some very good signs early for us
and it showed that the right preparation can make all the difference. We had so many reasons for wanting
to perform, none more so than to reward one of our new recruits in Brad Anderson on playing his 150 th
game of footy. Brad came to us from Narangba and has slotted into our team and club with ease and while
it was a strange way to celebrate it, I am sure he won’t forget it. Well done Bwad and no I didn’t spell it
wrong it is just a team thing.haha
The game was also important being our last home game of the year, it was a chance to cement a spot in the
top 8 and gain a finals opportunity in a couple of weeks, which was far from our thoughts at the start of the
year. It was a chance to get back on track and play 4 quarters of football after we had capitulated after half
time over the last couple of weeks.
Even though the game ended as it did, I was extremely pleased with the football we had played up to that
point. We still had to start aggressively and get to the right spots. We still needed to select the right options
and run to provide the right options, which we did. We still had to protect out team mates when they
needed protection and we still needed to finish the work off by scoring and we did all those things.
While our engine room over the last few weeks once again got us going, in Davo, Jacko, Ty, Trent, Crispy,
and Watto, it was very pleasing to see players start well and contribute in small ways when it was their turn
to do so. Players like Ando, Hanno, Deano were working into the game really well. Then to see Corey and
Shaun laying some shepherds up forward was proof that we had come to play and when the game ended
the score line read 53 to 7 half way through the second quarter.
Another positive is we are all well and looking forward to our next game against Calamvale at Calamvale
Community College at 3pm on Sunday. I know it is a long way but the more support we get the better and
our remaining time together is slowly coming to an end for this year. I hope to see you all there.

assistance. Thanks to all of our volunteers and supporters for playing that supportive role that a player
must have if they are to be the best that they can be.
Words of Wisdom
Your greatest sense of achievement should be something that is measured by the feelings in one’s heart
and the glow in one’s face when talking about it. Ask an Olympian if they are happy to do a personal best
even though it wasn’t enough to get a medal. Their answer would be yes absolutely. Medals and trophies
are just reminders, the feelings and memories are the true rewards.
