Rules
The event will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS
2013-16).
The rules for handling the boats will apply. Class rules will not apply.
In case of conflict between languages the English version will prevail.
The SI will be communicated at the first briefing.

Eligibility
Members of the YCB and BT are eligible to register.
All members of the YCB and BT can register either as ‘Skipper’ or as ‘Crew’ or both.
4.3
A team consist of a ‘Skipper’ and 2 or 3 additional sailor as crew (out of the entered
skippers and crews). The candidate skipper must helm the boat.
The teams will be formed for each race with different allocations of crew members to the
‘Skippers’ (by drawing and a pairing list).

Entries
Entering
Entries shall be made not later than by 29th of March. All entries have to be entered in
the Doodle:

The entry fee for skippers is 100 CHF, the entry fee for crew is 50 CHF. A skipper can
also register as crew without an additional entry fee.
5.2
Damage Deposit
Each skipper has to pay a damage deposit of 500 CHF in cash at the first sailor meeting.
The damage deposit will be returned after the last race, if no damage has occurred. The
damage deposit is the highest reliability per single event that a skipper has.

Format of the event

(a) The race will consist of fleet races with 4 J70 boats until each ‘Skipper’ sailed at
least 3 races,
(b) The races will be combined to rounds, so that in each round all skipper have at least
one race. The last round of the event may be incomplete depending on time and
weather conditions.

The qualification event ends when the time limit is exceeded. The time limit for the
start of the last round of races is 17:00 on the 2nd of April.
The event will be run in two stages. In the first stage all skippers sail until they have
at least 4 races. If at 12:30 of the second racing day all skippers have at least 4
races, the second stage with only the 8 best ranked skippers starts.
Eliminated skippers after the first stage can continue racing as crew.

7.1
Format of the races
Race Format
(a) The format will be umpired fleet racing and consist of short up-down races.
(b) A pairing list will define the rounds, the number of races in each round and the
competitors for each race. The pairing list will be distributed before racing.
(c) The RC may change the pairing list, the racing schedule, eliminate any race or
terminate the series when, in its opinion, it is impracticable to attempt to hold the
remainder of races under the existing conditions or in the remaining time scheduled.

Provisional Programme

(a) Sailor briefing and team allocation on 1st April, 09:00 in the Vingelz harbour
(b) Races on 1st April, 09:30 – 19:00 and 2nd April, 09:00 – approx. 18:00. There is no
new round started after 17:00
(c) If less than 4 races are sailed for each skipper an additional spare day may be
proposed.

Boats and Sails
The event will be sailed in J70 type boats.
4 boats will be provided.
The sails will be provided for each boat: Mainsail, jib, gennacker.
Boats will be allocated by a draw as decided be the Race Committee (RC).
10. Crew
10.1 In a race the number of crew (including skipper) shall be 3 or 4. Only registered skippers
and crew members may sail in a race.
10.2 The teams will be combined by draw from all registered sailors, always combining a
‘Skipper’ with crew members chosen by draw from all sailors not be selected as ‘Skipper’
in the concerned race.
10.3 The ‘candidate skipper’ must helm the boat.
11. Course
11.1 The course will be windward/leeward with
• port rounding at the windward mark,
• passing between the leeward gate marks in the direction from the last mark,
rounding on either side of the marks and
• downwind finishing.
12. Penalty System
12.2 The races will be umpired. A penalty consist of one 360 degree turn executed as soon as
possible after the crew has been noticed by the umpire.
12.2 The right of appeal shall be denied as approved by the Swiss Sailing Federation under
RRS 70.5.
12.3 Additional instructions to the penalty system are given at the first briefing
13. Scoring and Qualification
13.1 Event Ranking
(a) No results shall be excluded.

(b) In case of a tie the direct last confrontation will be used to separate the two skippers
13.2 SSL YCB Qualification Ranking
(a) The final score is calculated adding up all single rankings of the ‘Skippers’ and the
‘Crews’ divided by the number of races he/she sailed. The ‘Skipper’ with the lowest
ranking point is the winner.
(b) The best YCB ‘Skipper’ is entitled to represent the YCB at the SSL events in
Kreuzlingen and Zürich. The second best YCB ‘Skipper’ is entitled to represent the
YCB at the SSL event in Thun The BT ‘Skippers’ have their own qualification rules.
(c) The qualified YCB ‘Skippers’ have to choose their crews for the SSL events among
the crews that raced in the qualification event.
(d) No results shall be excluded.
14. Prices
14.1 There are no prices.

Competitors participate in the event entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to
Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal
injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the event.
