ECONOMICS Exam Board: Edexcel Course Contact: Mrs T Naqvi What will I study? You will be introduced to markets and market failure, looking specifically at the nature of economics, how markets work and government intervention. You will also explore the UK economy performance and policies, focusing on macroeconomic concepts, measures of economic performance, aggregate supply and demand, national income, economic growth and macroeconomic objectives and policy. This is a de-coupled qualification, students will have the opportunity to take their AS at the end of Year 12 and the A Level at the end of Year 13. What next? Students can progress from this qualification to Advanced Level GCE in Economics. A full A2 in Economics will also provide entry to higher education courses such as economics degrees with a focus on theory, or degrees in applied economics such as environmental economics, labour economics, public sector economics or monetary economics. Alternatively, students may choose to study a business economics, mathematical economics or business degree. A wide range of careers ranging from finance, banking, insurance, accountancy, management and consultancy will also be possible. Entry requirements: Students should have a minimum grade of a B in GCSE Maths and English.
