Book Week Door Display
Each class is to create a door
display to celebrate Book Week.
Classes are encouraged to
decorate their doors with any
theme related to ‘Books’ or the
Book Week theme of ‘Connect
to Reading’. Displays must be
completed by Thursday 21st
August ready for the door
display walk.
Shortlisting of published
narratives (3-6)
Grades 3-6 will shortlist two
books in their own class to go
on display in the Learning
Centre. These books will be
judged by teams of teachers to
find a winner for each year level
(by the end of the week).
P/1/2 Incursion: ‘Celebrate
Book Week’ & ‘The Great
Fairytale Fiasco’
The Children’s Book Council of Australia
(CBCA) shortlists a number of books entered
in the CBCA’s Book of the Year competition.
Explore this year’s selection of books
shortlisted with your class and create an
activity based on one or more of the books.
These activities can be completed with a
buddy grade and can be completed at
different times of the week. After exploring
the books, you may wish to have a class vote
on your favourite CBCA Book for 2014!
Maria will have these books available and
displayed in the Library during the week.
They will only be loaned out for one session.
Please let Maria know which hour during
Book Week you would like to use the book
with your class.

through the school to view
other classes door displays
related to Book Week.

Book Dress Up Day &
Parade
9:15 Whole School Parade
& YMCA
Students and teachers are to
come to school dressed as their
favourite book character and
participate in THPS’s annual
Book Character Parade.
The parade will be held in the
gym. Please refer to the running
sheet.
