Year 10 Mathematics Enrichment: Real Life Problem Solving Date: Wednesday 12th July 2017 Venue: School of Mathematics (Alan Turing Building) University of Manchester Manchester M13 9PL Campus map: http://www.manchester.ac.uk/aboutus/travel/maps/ 10.00 – 15.30 Details of the day: A series of workshops by leading Core Maths teachers, designed to capture the imagination of students with the potential to progress on to Core Maths study post GCSEs Concurrent Core Maths training for teachers who have accompanied the students A unique Core Maths Competition in mixed school groups. The day is intended for enthusiastic Year 10 students who want to continue with Maths after GCSE but are predicted to achieve a 4 or 5. Places are limited to SIX students plus one teacher per school or college. We would particularly like to target students who are keen on the subject but feel that they don’t have the ability to carry on to A-level. Please note that students should bring their own packed lunch to this event; lunch will be provided for teachers. There are vending machines available in the common areas that we will be using. While the students are in the workshops teachers will receive Core Maths Training We can also provide up to £60 per school to reimburse travel costs to the venue (you must provide evidence of this in order to claim the money back).
